Toward the Lighthouse

Take a bike ride toward Ameland's lighthouse. After about 40 minutes of cycling, you'll be standing in front of this beautiful red and white structure, built in 1880. Are you going by car? Then you'll be on the road for 15 minutes. The lighthouse has not been used by the Coast Guard since 2005, but is now an exhibition space. Walk the tower's 236 steps and enjoy a magnificent view. The lighthouse is 55 meters high!

Exploring Ameland by bicycle

A fun and active way to explore the island is by bicycle. When you add up all the bicycle paths on Ameland, you end up with 100 kilometers of routes. Take your own bike with you on vacation, or stop by one of the bike rentals on the island. For example, follow the Ameland route of the ANWB, and pass beautiful dune plains and polder areas. Admire the wide sandy beach, cycle over dikes, and see the different landscapes this beautiful island has to offer. The total length of this route is about 40 kilometers, which takes you about 3 hours. After this beautiful tour of Wadden Island Ameland, you can relax in your Villatent at the glamping.

The old villages on Ameland

On the small but fine Wadden Island, you will find a number of beautiful old villages. From this glamping on Ameland, they are within a radius of 15 kilometers. Hollum, Ballum, Buren and Nes. Head toward Hollum and check out the captain's houses, the cozy village square, and the windmill. Buren is a 10-minute walk from the glamping and has many nice restaurants. Don't skip the Agriculture and Beachcomber's Museum either. Do you go in the direction of Nes? Then you will come across all kinds of stores and terraces! This is the largest village on the island. In Ballum you will be met by many old houses, some of which date back to the 18th century. Grab a bike and visit these villages, or go out by car!

Active with the children

Walk from the luxury safari tents within 15 minutes to the beach of Ameland for an active day at the water's edge. Play a game of soccer or take a dip in the water. At Ameland Adventure they organize activities for young and old! How about kite buggying, beach golf, or wave surfing? Another option is Outdoor Ameland, where you can climb, kayak, paintball, and more! And this is only a 6-minute drive away.
