Always wanted to stay right on the water without giving up the comfort of a holiday home? This floating cottage in Norway makes that dream come true. Moored in a sheltered bay and weighing a solid 23 tons on 63-ton pontoons, it sits rock steady – even when the weather turns wild.

The unique triangular design spreads over two floors, giving you plenty of space inside and out. Around the house you’ll find about 50 m² of open and covered terraces on three corners, all connected by covered walkways. One side has a floating dock, so you can easily hop on and off the boat. From the terrace you can jump straight into the water for a refreshing dip and climb back up using the ladder. Prefer shallower water? Swim close to shore, just 50 metres away.

Two rowing boats are included, so in just a few strokes you’re on dry land where you can barbecue, swim or play outdoor games like badminton and croquet. On land you’ll also find access to a washing machine – handy for longer stays. Life jackets are provided (up to 100 kg) and must be worn on the boats; if you need a different size, just bring your own.

Inside, the cottage is bright and stylish with large windows that bring the fjord views right into the living room. On cooler days you can fire up the gas fireplace and get cosy, or switch on the heat pump, which doubles as air conditioning in summer. The functional kitchen has a gas stove, and the bathroom even has its own outside entrance – ideal after a swim. One of the bedrooms comes with its own veranda window, so you can wake up to the water every morning.

For fun on and around the water you’re all set: 3 crab traps, a fishing net, 4 bicycles and shared canoes (for 2 and 3 people) with the neighbouring floating cottage are at your disposal. Fishing is good all year, in both sheltered and open water, and there’s a private fish-cleaning table waiting for your catch. There’s also a small trout lake about 3 km away.
