Wake up to sweeping fjord views, crisp fresh air and total peace and quiet in this cosy holiday cottage on the island of Reksteren (Tysnes). Hidden in green, rural surroundings, this traditional wooden cabin is made for anyone who loves nature, hiking and fishing – or just wants to slow down and relax.

Inside, you’ll find a charming living room with pine walls and an open fireplace/wood stove that creates instant hygge on cooler evenings. Stream your favourite series via the internet connection, or request cable TV via fibre with Norwegian, German and international channels if you feel like a movie night. The cottage has three bedrooms, including one with two practical folding single beds, perfect if you’re travelling with friends or older kids.

The modern bathroom comes with a Cinderella combustion toilet instead of a regular water closet – easy to use and eco‑friendly. Outside, nature is your playground. Within 200 metres you reach a shallow bathing beach where you can swim, paddle and play on warm days. The surrounding area is a true hiker’s paradise, with marked trails and mountain hikes up to 752 metres above sea level, where you’ll be rewarded with jaw‑dropping views over the fjord landscape.

If you love fishing, you’re in the right place. The fjord is rich in fish and there are several good spots for angling directly from the shore. About 3 km away you’ll find Lake Frøkedalsvannet, known for trout up to 0.5 kg. By the water, just 250 metres from the cottage, there’s a small boathouse with a covered filleting area with water and light, plus a freezer and storage for your gear.

You can rent different boats to explore the fjord: a 15‑foot Tobias with a 15 HP Yamaha engine, or two 21‑foot boats with 60 HP engines, GPS/chart plotter/echo sounder and rod holders – ideal for serious anglers. There’s also a canoe at Frøkedalsvannet that you can rent per day, perfect for a quiet paddle on the lake.

Please note: from the parking area there is a steep 200‑metre path up to the cottage, so it’s best if you’re reasonably mobile and don’t mind a short uphill walk. Pets are welcome (up to two), so your dog can join you on forest walks and lazy evenings by the fire. This cottage is all about simple comfort, stunning scenery and outdoor adventures right on your doorstep.
