Park Drentheland

Try the Animal Activity Trail at Park Drentheland with your children. At the reception, you can rent a bag that lets them explore the forest on their own. With a magnifying glass and binoculars, they search for animals and playfully learn about nature. The game sheet makes it even more fun, keeping them actively engaged while they discover all sorts of things. Highly recommended if you want to do something fun outdoors together.

Het Nationaal Park Drents-Friese Wold is a beautiful natural area located on the edge of the campsite. With an area of over 6,000 hectares, the park is characterized by expansive forests, heathlands, sand dunes, and water-rich areas. It offers a network of well-marked trails for walkers and cyclists of all levels. There is a rich biodiversity with more than 1,000 different plant species, including some rare varieties such as sundew and cranberry. Enjoy various outdoor activities, such as horseback riding, mountain biking, and canoeing. Het Nationaal Park Drents-Friese Wold is a beautiful and peaceful nature reserve that provides the opportunity to connect with nature and experience the beauty and diversity of the Dutch landscape.

A 25-minute drive from the campsite, in Veenhuizen, you will find the National Prison Museum. The museum is dedicated to the history of prisons and the penal system in the Netherlands. Through exhibitions, you can learn about the lives of prisoners and the different ways in which they were punished throughout history. There are also interactive exhibitions, such as a simulated police interrogation and a "jailbreak". It is also possible to take a guided tour of the nearby prison complex, which is still in use. The Prison Museum offers a fascinating and educational look at the history of crime and punishment in the Netherlands and is definitely worth a visit.
