About a 30-minute drive from the glamping is Thorn. This picturesque village is also called the "White town" because of the white facades of the houses and monuments. In the village you walk through narrow streets, enjoy the beautiful town hall and visit the impressive abbey church. There are cozy terraces where you can enjoy a snack or drink. Another town nearby is Maaseik, about 20 miles away. This historic town on the Meuse has a rich history and that can be seen in the beautiful old buildings. The museum of the Van Eyck brothers is worth a visit. Maaseik also has several nice stores and terraces where you can enjoy a Belgian beer.
Active day on the Meuse
After a 20-minute drive, you reach the Meuse River. And how much fun is it to discover this piece of nature not from the banks, but from the water? At several places it is possible to rent a kayak, canoe or raft and discover Rivierpark Maasvallei. Spot Galloway cattle or wild horses during your trip, and enjoy the green surroundings. A fun and active outing for the whole family!

Een paar nachten op deze camping verbleven met caravan. We stonden op een comfortplek. De plek was mooi ruim met water en stroom dichtbij. Nadeel was dat het toiletgebouw helemaal aan de andere kant van de camping is. Niet erg handig als je alleen samen met je 4 jarige kind bent. Voor al het warme water wat je gebruikt heb je een pasje nodig. Dus voor het douchen, maar ook voor het afwassen! Zelfs bij het zwembad zijn geen douches die je gewoon kan gebruiken. Ons veld stond met de rug naar het zwembad. Heel erg veel lawaai de hele dag. Het zwembad is opzich leuk, maar niet heel erg logisch ingericht. Zo is er dus helemaal geen peuterbad. Het gedeelte waar kleintjes kunnen spelen kan je niet bij zitten als ouder. Het zwembad is niet alleen toegankelijk voor camping gasten, maar ook voor mensen die een dagje komen zwemmen. Dat is opzich niet zo erg. Alleen zijn er dus dagen dat er hele klassen en scoutinggroepen aanwezig zijn en je als campinggasten eigenlijk niet eens meer naar het overvolle zwembad wil. Dit staat ook nergens aangegeven op de website. De hele dag hoor je dan ontzettend veel lawaai vanuit het zwembad. Al met al een erg rumoerige camping. Als je dit niet erg vindt is het allemaal best leuk.

Het was een leuke vakantie met mijn kleindochter. De speeltuin en het buitenzwembad waren voor haar de max. De locatie waar we stonden met de camper was ideaal.

Het is een fijne plek. Niet heel groot. De kinderen konden lekker vrij rondlopen. Genoeg te doen voor de kinderen. En na 22:00 uur moest het rustig en stiller zijn waardoor de kinderen en wij lekker konden slapen.
