Villages nearby

About a 30-minute drive from the glamping is Thorn. This picturesque village is also called the "White town" because of the white facades of the houses and monuments. In the village you walk through narrow streets, enjoy the beautiful town hall and visit the impressive abbey church. There are cozy terraces where you can enjoy a snack or drink. Another town nearby is Maaseik, about 20 miles away. This historic town on the Meuse has a rich history and that can be seen in the beautiful old buildings. The museum of the Van Eyck brothers is worth a visit. Maaseik also has several nice stores and terraces where you can enjoy a Belgian beer.

Active day on the Meuse

After a 20-minute drive, you reach the Meuse River. And how much fun is it to discover this piece of nature not from the banks, but from the water? At several places it is possible to rent a kayak, canoe or raft and discover Rivierpark Maasvallei. Spot Galloway cattle or wild horses during your trip, and enjoy the green surroundings. A fun and active outing for the whole family!

Imagine yourself in Japan

Are you making a trip to Hasselt? Then don't skip the Japanese garden! After a half-hour drive, you step out into a green world full of beautiful trees, bridges and streams. Watch a tea demonstration or take a course, calligraphy or origami. On Sundays and holidays, you can take a guided tour of the garden. That way you get to experience a bit of Japan, but from Belgium.

We have taken our son out of his lessons and will never return. The way the owners treat paying customers is completely unacceptable — rude, aggressive, and shockingly unprofessional. Despite always paying and simply accompanying my son, we were spoken to with hostility and made to feel unwelcome every time. The atmosphere is tense and unpleasant, and the lack of basic respect toward customers is astonishing. Avoid this place if you expect to be treated decently.

This is by far the worst customer experience I have ever had in my life. I come here only because my son has private swimming lessons at the pool. Every time we come, I pay the entrance fee at the café, and on top of that I pay separately for the swimming lesson itself. If it wasn’t for my son’s lessons, I would never set foot on this old, worn-down and dirty campsite. The first incident happened when the elderly male owner approached me in an extremely aggressive way. He had apparently taken a screenshot from the surveillance cameras showing me and my son, tracked me down where I was sitting, and started shouting at me in front of other people. He threatened me with fines of several hundred euros and said he would call the police. I immediately apologized and moved my car, but the way he treated a paying customer was completely unacceptable, bizarre and deeply unpleasant. Three weeks later I returned for my son’s lesson again. As always, I paid the entrance fee in the café and sat down to watch my son swim. Suddenly the female owner stormed up to me and threw me out of the seating area because I hadn’t ordered a drink. She claimed it was “mandatory.” I had already paid the entrance fee, yet she spoke to me in the most disrespectful and hostile way I have ever experienced from a business owner. Her behavior was absolutely disgusting. To be clear: I have nothing negative to say about the swimming teacher or the lessons themselves. They are good. The problem is the owners. The way these two owners treat customers is shocking. No business should be run like this. I will never return, and I strongly advise others to stay away. If it were possible to give minus stars, I would

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this campsite to anyone.

After booking a pitch, it turned out that there were additional charges for washing up and hot showers.

These charges were not shown anywhere online before the booking and still are not. For me, such hidden costs are completely non-transparent and unacceptable.
I have tried to clarify the situation several times by email. As the additional charges were incomprehensible to me, I demanded a 100% refund. However, the response was extremely unprofessional and cheeky - I was told that food in restaurants is not free either. A completely inappropriate comparison that misses the real problem. And after all, you can see the card slots in the pictures.

Further emails for clarification were then ignored and I have still not received my money back.
Very disappointing customer service and lack of transparency. This is no way to treat guests.
