Ribnitz-Damgarten itself is a charming, officially recognised resort town and is known throughout Germany as the Amber Town. Visit the German Amber Museum and the Amber Show Manufactory, wander past impressive examples of Brick Gothic architecture and take your time in the cosy cafés, restaurants and little shops. The location between the Hanseatic cities of Rostock and Stralsund – and close to the Baltic Sea beaches – makes this houseboat a wonderful base for day trips.
