Looking for a romantic escape on the water? This cosy floating home for two is moored on a peaceful lake near Xanten, right in the middle of lush green surroundings. Here you wake up gently rocking on the waves, with views over the North and South Seas – two connected lakes that feel like your own private holiday world.

Your houseboat lies on a separate jetty together with a few other floating houses, just in front of the small village of Vynen. It feels wonderfully tranquil, yet you’re in a central spot on the Lower Rhine, with charming towns, culture and days out all within easy reach. Perfect if you like a mix of relaxation and exploring.

Around the lakes you’ll find plenty of things to do. Enjoy the lido with a well-kept sandy beach, grab a deck chair and soak up the sun, or cool off with a swim. If you love being active on the water, you’re in the right place: there’s a water-ski and wakeboard cable (about 960 metres long), a sailing school, boat and raft rental, a surfing station and stand-up paddling. You can also join passenger boat trips on the North and South Seas to see the area from a different perspective.

The Lower Rhine region is also a cycling paradise. A wide, well-marked network of cycle paths invites you to hop on your bike and discover the surroundings at your own pace. Ride along the famous “RheinRadWeg” with wide views over the river and its passing ships, and use the traditional ferries to cross from one bank to the other. Prefer a quieter day? Try your luck fishing (day permits available), or dive into the lake’s underwater world with a wreck and a sculpture park for divers.
