General information
Experience glamping the Frisian way, among the trees, with wood, canvas, and plenty of atmosphere. In a cozy Thuske—a cross between a wooden cabin and a tent—you sleep under a tent roof, with the comfort of a real bed and the sounds of nature all around you.
On the grounds of Smûk Recreatie, you’ll find snug fire pits, a farm shop full of local products, and a cozy farmhouse living room to unwind. The surroundings invite you to slow down: explore the Tjeukemeer, walk along the dikes, or discover the charm of Frisian villages. This is glamping as it’s meant to be; simple, warm, and close to nature.
The lodge tents of Smûk Recreatie
Wake up to birdsong and views of nature—that’s glamping in a Thuske. This unique combination of tent and cabin gives you that cozy camping feeling with the comfort of a nature cottage. Bright, atmospheric, and suitable for 2 to 4 people, with a large window overlooking nature. Enjoy a spacious double bed in a separate bedroom, a cozy bunk bed alcove with wooden doors, and a little kitchen with induction hob, retro fridge, and coffee percolator. Toilet and washbasin are inside; outside awaits your own private outdoor hot shower.
Thanks to the wooden frame, it’s draft-free, but you can still hear the soft patter of raindrops on the canvas. Inside, a wood stove creates cozy evenings; outside, relax on the spacious deck, either in the sun or nicely sheltered. Looking for more relaxation? Book the wood-fired hot tub to complete your glamping experience.

The facilities at Smûk Recreatie
Settle down in the homely farmhouse living room, where vintage chairs, soft lighting, and long wooden tables create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Play a game, read a book, or simply enjoy the peace and quiet. In the farm shop, you’ll find fresh local products: wine, cheese, and stews from the farm. Everything works on trust; just write down what you take. Prefer to be outdoors? Walk along the dike to the village, rent a sloop, and explore the Tjeukemeer or sail along the Tjonger.
In the winter months, the Praat Kafee, the heated group space for up to 20 people, is the place for breakfast, dinner, or a drink. With its own kitchen and optional atmospheric Christmas decoration, it’s ideal for a winter stay with family or friends. Each family has its own cozy spot in a Tiny House or another Smûk accommodation, while you can all enjoy special moments together. The Praat Kafee can be reserved per day. Ask about the possibilities.
On the park you’ll also find water with canoes you can use, a wood-fired pizza oven, fire pits, and plenty of space to play, walk, or simply do nothing at all.
