We had booked a cottage at De Ijsvogel Vacation Park from August 3, 2026, to August 10, 2026, for two adults, two children, and two small dogs. We stayed in the “Villa Vogelveld” cottage (282), but for the price, we had expected more privacy and comfort—you’re very close to the other yards and can hear everyone. But once inside the cottage, it was immediately obvious that the cleaning hadn’t been done properly—for example, there were splatters on the couch, the stove, and the walls, which had black streaks on them. Another real letdown upon arrival was that the couch was worn out. It also says that you can enjoy lovely walks with the dogs, but when you’re told—and see with your own eyes—that you first have to cross a busy 80-kilometer road to get to the forest, I was really taken aback, and we thought it was extremely dangerous!! We also had two hot days, and unfortunately, it gets very hot in the cottage (32 degrees), making it unbearable to stay inside—certainly not for our well-being or that of the dogs! You couldn’t even open the windows in the living room to let in a little fresh air, so it stays very warm in the cottage—which isn’t air-conditioned at all. That’s why we unfortunately decided to cut our vacation short after two days and head back home.
We also ate at the cafeteria, but the cleanliness there could really be much better—we found it off-putting to see how the floor looked; it wasn’t clean at all! Fortunately, the food was good. And we felt that our concerns weren’t taken seriously when we brought these issues up. We’ll never stay at De Ijsvogel vacation park again.

Great cottage and beautiful park, but be aware of the location of cottage 713

We stayed in cottage 713 and, overall, we were satisfied with our stay. It’s a great 8-person cottage with comfortable beds and a neat interior. The kitchen, bathroom, and other amenities are all in good condition. For a stay with 8 people, the cottage is spacious enough and equipped with most conveniences.

We also have positive things to say about the park itself. The park is well-maintained and there’s plenty to do. The snack bar is good, and the catering was also fine. In that regard, it’s definitely a nice vacation park.

But there’s one major drawback: the location of cottage 713.

The cottage is literally right next to a road where cars drive at 80 km/h. As a result, we experienced quite a bit of noise pollution from the traffic. You really notice this, especially when you’re sitting outside or want to sleep with the windows open. For a vacation park that’s marketed as a place for peace, space, and nature, we found this to be quite a letdown.

What surprised us most is that, in our opinion, there’s hardly any mention of this on the website. When you book a cottage, you don’t expect to be literally right next to a busy 80-kilometer road. As far as we’re concerned, this is important information that should be stated more clearly in advance.

Conclusion: The cottage itself is fine, and the park, snack bar, and catering are also good. But the location of cottage 713 right next to the busy 80-kilometer road is a major drawback for us and significantly impacted our stay.

If you’re planning to book here, I would definitely recommend asking about the cottage’s location and trying to avoid cottage 713 if you value peace and quiet.

The service isn't very fast—they just peek inside to see if anyone's sitting there, and none of the staff members who are taking a break outside ever pop inside to let them know someone's there.
