We were really looking forward to a fun weekend getaway, but unfortunately it turned out to be a huge disappointment.

On the way there, we called Ella, the farm owner, to ask if we could store our refrigerated items somewhere in advance, since it was 35 degrees that day. We were told that the tent was already set up, so this wouldn’t be a problem. Upon arrival, however, the atmosphere changed immediately. Suddenly, we were told that we had to pay €50 for this, because according to her records, we had previously been contacted about checking in early (there had never been any contact about this). She also suggested that we were deliberately trying to take advantage of a longer stay, when all we wanted to do was keep our meat cool because we were planning to spend the afternoon at the beach first.

No matter how we tried to explain the situation, she wouldn’t listen. We were confronted with assumptions and accusations that felt completely unjustified and unfair. The way we were spoken to was anything but hospitable, respectful, or customer-friendly. This was especially painful in the presence of our two young children, who had been so looking forward to this weekend. In the end, it wasn’t even about the €50—it was about the way we were treated as guests.

After this unpleasant reception, we still went to the beach, with the meat in our bag. We hoped the situation would be resolved later, that at least an apology would follow. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Farmer Ella, as well as farmer Jan, remained extremely unfriendly in their interactions—not only toward us but also toward other visitors.

What also shocked us immensely was the impression we got regarding the animals’ welfare. In our opinion, their care left a lot to be desired. During a weekend when the temperature soared well above 35 degrees, we saw hardly any water sources, the enclosures looked dirty, and we found the pens to be small and inadequately maintained. That made us feel uneasy and kept weighing on our minds the entire time.

The activities offered at this petting farm were also very disappointing. If there was an activity at all, it was very short. We had thought we’d be able to help out with the farmer’s daily life, as advertised on the website. Such a shame!

We therefore look back on this weekend with astonishment and a sense of unease. Due to the owner’s attitude, the unfounded accusations, and our concerns about animal welfare, this is absolutely not a place we’ll ever return to or recommend to others. What should have been a relaxing getaway ended up being an experience that was, above all, disappointing, unpleasant, and sad.

We will never return and recommend visiting one of the other FarmCamps instead.

We spent a week at this farmcamps location. A nice place where the children can brush the ponies in the morning, go for a walk and possibly ride them. Afterwards the indoor playground opens and that is really lovely, especially when the weather is not so good. You are assigned a table and if you are at the park then you can just pay this off completely at the end. Then it's just put on your bill. Should you possibly have the dog with you then you also have an area inside where you can sit. If the weather is better they can also enjoy the go-kart track, sandbox and the air cushion filled with water outside. They can also enjoy the beautiful garden outside and there are some playground equipment in the field where the tents are. The tents themselves are adequately equipped with a kitchen with inventory bench and a bunk bed and a 2 bed. There is also a toilet in the tent, very nice! The larger tents may also have a shower and an additional playhouse with 2 sleeping places. If you go here, it is recommended to bring your bicycles. Because the beach is within cycling distance as is the village of Kamperland. This is unfortunately just not walkable because you have to walk on fairly busy roads. Should you not feel like cooking yourself you can also order this from the indoor play area. From sandwiches to stew with fries. To end the day you can join the animals for feeding. From goats to chickens to a pig. The animals love it. In addition, you can complete your Farmcamp booklet with different tasks. So if you want a vacation where the kids can enjoy themselves with fun things to do in the area, this is definitely a must!

very nice stay, fun for the kids with the animals, the outdoor and indoor playground and the scavenger hunt. Also nice that it is close to the sea. cool tents, do bring extra blanket in winter/spring/autumn because at night it can be chilly. We will definitely come back.
