Some homes offer a full sea view, others a partial one, but you’re always close to the coastline and the fresh ocean breeze.

In just a short walk you’re in Vila Franca do Campo, the former capital of São Miguel. Here you’ll find cafés, restaurants, historic buildings and pretty gardens where you can wander hand in hand.

Off the coast lies the tiny island Ilhéu de Vila Franca, a protected nature reserve with a natural swimming pool inside an old volcanic crater. In summer you can take a ferry over for a swim in crystal-clear water and a unique day out together.

For unforgettable excursions, head to Lagoa das Furnas with its mystical crater lake and bubbling hot springs, or visit Parque Terra Nostra. This botanical park is full of exotic plants and has a large thermal pool where you can float in warm, iron-rich water.

The island is also a paradise for hikers and outdoor lovers. Explore green valleys, dramatic cliffs and tea plantations on foot, by bike or even on horseback.
