Huttopia Lac de SilléThis is not a review of the campsite other than to say it is very good. This is a review of the fishing at the site, as before leaving, I found it very hard to find out any information about it online and I was therefore in two kinds as to whether to bring any tackle or not. The site itself couldn’t offer much info other than to confirm you could fish it, but nothing about stock etc (which is fine, they are not anglers themselves). So I am writing this post in the hope of helping others who are looking to stay at huttopia lac de sille and interested in fishing. ||||In short yes bring your tackle, it’s well worth it!||||From the site there are three lakes you can fish in walking distance. It is 8€ a day and you can buy day permits or blocks of days at reception (never had my ticket checked, mind you). Not sure if you can night fish. There are some areas of the lakes you cannot fish, but plenty of space to find a nice spot. ||||The smallest and most remote lake is Etang des Molieres which is 70% covered in Lillies. It looks very fishy and peaceful but I didn’t get round to fishing it so can’t offer much. ||||The medium size lake is etang neuf. Has a central island and some marginal vegetation / snags / trees. Pretty pond. Saw people just float fishing on the whip or light tackle here, and a few with more of a carp set up. So something for everyone. I fished one carp/ boilies rod and one method feeder with robin red pellet. In a 4 hour evening session I had a small carp, 2 tench around 3/4 lb and a baby catfish…all on the method. Get the impression the small catfish are close in, the carp out in the middle and tench in between. But very pleasurable evening. ||||The large lake is pretty big and is more for the serious carpers (which I don’t consider myself to be) saw quite a few people kitted out with all the gear. Plenty of locals and a few holiday makers. At first I didn’t think I’d fish it. Seemed a bit too full on carpy for me and I wasn’t kitted out for it. Also I swam and paddle boarded the lake on the first day and was surprised how silty /muddy and shallow it was. Also everyone seemed to be fishing out to the middle, out of my casting range. However that evening on a walk round the lake I saw two carp banked one of which was over 30lb. So I felt I couldn’t resist at least a few hours. So I set the alarm for 6am and had a pre brekky 3 hour session, with expectations set pretty low. I fished the same tactics and just felt I was no where near far out enough. However I saw plenty of carp leaping and topping and actually was encouraged that some of the action was a bit closer in than I thought. ||Long story short in 3 hours I caught a 5lb tench and a carp just shy of the magic 20lb. Both on method and robin red. If I’d had more time to wet a line I feel confident I could have caught more and maybe bigger, but family responsibilities called etc…! I also befriended a Dutch dad and son who were trying for carp without much joy. I gave them a few handfuls of my Robin red and I’m pleased to say that he found me the following day to say they’d landed two, both of which looked bigger than mine. ||Not sure on the predator front but did see a couple of people with lure set ups so must be some action to be had. ||Apparently the occasional monster cat comes out, but pretty rare. ||||That’s it. Hope this provides a bit of useful info to help people decide whether to book this place/ bring tackle etc from an angling point of view

Camping de MolenhoekA very big minus point we found our camper place. All campers are in this street side by side with hedges between them making it every man for himself. Also, the space where you throw out your awning became very small and proppy between your camper and the hedge. The pool was cold and the toilets and showers could be cleaner. We will not be returning here anytime soon. Nice campground though.

Hermagor-NassfeldLiked: The Facilities were fantastic. We loved the indoor and outdoor pools, plus the natural pool was an experience! We didn’t have time to try out the spa as only stopped for one night. Everything was clean and felt very safe having youth kids. Kids loved the animals and the playgrounds.

De Wije WereltLiked: Absolutely brilliant campsite with superb facilities. Friendly staff, great restaurant and takeaway, nice pool. Proper high end experience. It felt like Canada! So much for youngsters and adults to do. Very large site next to forest. Excellent location near Otterlo and Arnhem. We are going to return next year.

Camping ParadisoPopular: Very nice family campsite. We had a pitch with a great view. The swimming pool was small but perfectly adequate for a quick dip. The pizza tasted excellent! Disliked: Only the path to the sea is very difficult, probably due to a landslide or fire(?). Unfortunately not accessible by bike.

Camping Le Petit TrianonSuch a pretty site with incredible amenities such as mini golf, a pool, bouncy castle, fantastic kids playground, restaurant and bar. ||The only reason I haven’t given it a higher rating is that it seemed to be open to school trips. The kids were out of control and constantly dive bombing into the pool, almost landing on other guests. The carer had no control at all and it’s was really dangerous, and ruined what should have been a relaxing swim. I think opening up to schools totally changes the vibe. ||Also agree that the showers were filthy in the evening. Although spotless in the morning. I think lots of kids didn’t help the evening filth! ||Outside of that it was stunning.

Camping Le Petit TrianonApparently the campsite has changed ownership and according to friends who have visited previously the new improvements to the bar and main building are great.|We thought the campsite looked well maintained and had no issues at all with the newly gravelled paths, in fact we all commented on how nice they looked.|The main toilet block looked fine, I only used the smaller blocks in the main field which were ok - not the cleanest or nicest but acceptable.|This was a perfectly pleasant campsite for a stopover and I would recommend it for this purpose.
