Unfortunately, upon arrival we found that the cottage was very dirty. We had to clean everything thoroughly before we could use it. We also found that the bed was incredibly hard. We were lying on a thin mattress on a board. So little sleep and a lot of pain. Also, the gentleman only spoke French. That made it difficult in terms of communication.

Helaas bleek bij aankomst dat het huisje erg vies was. We hebben eerst alles goed schoon moeten maken voordat we er gebruik van konden maken. Ook bleek dat het bed ontzettend hard was. We lagen op een dun matras op een plank. Dus weinig slapen en veel last van pijn. Ook sprak de meneer alleen Frans. Dat maakte het lastig qua communicatie.

Boshuis Het Eekhoorntje
We spent a midweek in the cottage and enjoyed it immensely. The cottage was top notch! Much better than the pictures show. Clean and tidy. The garden that comes with it is large and well fenced, so we could let our dog (Cane Corso) roam the garden by himself. The cottage is located in National Park Hoge Kempen, really beautiful! You walk directly into the forest and the routes are well marked. For our dog it was really great fun, there is a nice off-leash area. There are lots of beautiful areas nearby such as Terhill and Mechelse Heide and also Maasmechelen Village is close by. The kitchenette is fine for cooking for yourself. No wifi was fine and cell phone coverage was minimal, you literally go back to nature there. If you do want range then all you have to do is walk outside. The path to the cottage does seem like a dingy thing with a lot of rain, but we didn't experience that with a week of beautiful weather. Enjoyment at its best. Highly recommended!

We hebben een midweek in het huisje doorgebracht en enorm genoten. Het huisje was top! Veel beter dan de foto's laten zien. Schoon en netjes. De tuin die erbij hoort is groot en goed omheind, waardoor we onze hond (Cane Corso) lekker zelf in de tuin konden laten struinen. Het huisje ligt in Nationaal Park Hoge Kempen, echt prachtig! Je loopt direct het bos in en de routes staan goed aangegeven. Voor onze hond was het echt geweldig leuk, er is een fijn losloop gebied. Er zijn heel veel mooie gebieden in de omgeving zoals Terhill en Mechelse Heide en ook Maasmechelen Village is dichtbij. Het keukentje is prima om zelf te koken. Geen wifi was fijn en bereik met de mobiele telefoon was minimaal, je gaat er letterlijk terug naar de natuur. Wil je wel bereik dan hoef je alleen naar buiten te lopen. Het pad naar het huisje toe lijkt me met veel regen wel een dingetje, maar dat hebben we niet ervaren met een week prachtig weer. Genieten ten top. Echt een aanrader!
