Wake up to the sound of the waves and a wide-open sea view from this cosy summer house in Sandvik, on the Swedish island of Öland. From your terrace it’s only about 75 metres to the beautiful pebble beach and around 100 metres to the sandy beach – perfect for a refreshing morning swim or a relaxed beach day.

The house is compact but cleverly laid out and in good condition, ideal for up to three guests. You’ll sleep in a smaller double bed (1.40 m) and a comfortable single bed. The practical kitchenette comes with two hotplates, a microwave, kettle, coffee maker and a fridge with icebox – everything you need for simple holiday meals. There’s also a small bathroom with shower and, as a real treat, a private sauna.

Even from the sauna you can enjoy a view of the sea and Sandvik’s harbour through a window – a unique place to unwind after a day outdoors. Outside you’ll find a spacious terrace facing the water, complete with outdoor furniture and a grill. It’s the perfect spot to linger over dinner while watching the sun set into the sea.

The house is located next to the owners’ own summer house, separated by a wall for privacy. Do note that the owners park their car right beside your house on the side of the balcony. Despite that, you still have your own quiet corner to enjoy the sea and sky.

Sandvik itself is a charming maritime village where the sea, Alvaret, sun and wind come together. The old fishing village has grown into a popular guest harbour and summer resort with several great places to eat. Try fresh fish at “Sandviks Fisk och Hamnkök” or enjoy a relaxed meal at “Hamnkrogen”, both with lovely harbour views.

You’ll also find the Nordic region’s largest windmill, “Sandviks Kvarn”, where you can taste local Öland specialties such as kroppkakor and lufsa, as well as pizza and kebab. There’s mini golf, a trampoline for kids and a small museum in the mill itself. Craving something sweet? Several ice cream cafés are nearby – one is just below the house, ideal for grabbing an ice cream and strolling to the pebble beach.

For day trips, Byxelkrok (about 35 km) offers a classic holiday atmosphere with little shops and many restaurants along the boathouses. Böda’s wide sandy beaches are roughly 30 km away and perfect for sunbathing and swimming. The lively town of Borgholm, also about 30 km away, gives you more shops, restaurants and sights to explore. This summer house in Sandvik is a great base if you love sea views, sunsets and the relaxed island life of Öland.
