Blackbarn Wood is a luxury barn conversion set in 7 acres of private woodland and wildflower meadow on the peaceful Cambridgeshire–Suffolk border. It’s the kind of place where you wake up to birdsong, sip your morning coffee with wide countryside views, and feel like you’ve escaped the everyday – without giving up comfort for a second.

Recently completed to eco-passivhaus standards, the barn is designed to stay wonderfully cool in summer and cosy in winter. Inside, you’ll find an open-plan living space that is bright, airy and full of character, with beautiful old beams and large windows framing the greenery outside. The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to cook up your favourites: a full oven, induction hob, dishwasher, washer/dryer and fridge, plus a dining table for four so you can linger over long breakfasts and lazy dinners.

In the lounge, a soft velvet sofa and armchair invite you to curl up with a book, watch a film on the digital TV or play your favourite playlist through the sound dock. On sunny days, open the doors and step straight out onto the spacious Indian sandstone patio, furnished with a stylish rattan garden sofa. It’s the perfect spot to relax with a drink, dine al fresco or light the firepit and watch the stars come out.

The master bedroom is a calm, pastel-toned retreat with a king-size bed and its own private patio – ideal for a quiet morning moment or a glass of wine at dusk. The twin room mixes industrial touches with natural elements, creating a cool and cosy space for friends or older kids. Both bedrooms feature luxury Silentnight Eco mattresses for a deeply restful night. The modern family bathroom comes with a bath, waterfall shower and heated towel rail, plus a hairdryer and GHD straighteners so you can pack a little lighter.

Outside, you’re free to wander through your own woodland, spot hares, deer and red kites, or simply spread a blanket in the meadow and unwind. When you’re ready to explore, you’re a short drive from Linton Zoo, the famous Duxford Imperial War Museum and the historic city of Cambridge. Walkers and cyclists will love the nearby trails, including the Icknield Way. If you’d rather leave the car, stroll to the village of Balsham for coffee at The Old Butchers, a visit to the local shop or a look around the 13th-century church.
