Inside, you’ll find a relaxed open-plan living space where you can cook, eat and hang out together. The kitchen is equipped with all the basics you need for easy meals: a stove, fridge, kettle and a simple dining area. After a day out, curl up in the living room – the comfy double sofa bed turns into an extra sleeping spot at night. There are two bedrooms: one with a double bed and one with two single beds, plus a private shower room. Heating, bed linen, towels and final cleaning are all included, so you can pack light and arrive stress-free.

Outside is where this place really shines. You get your own private wood-fired hot tub with peaceful views over the lake – ideal for long evenings with a drink in hand and good conversation. Fire up the BBQ on warm days and make the most of being outdoors. The chalet is pet-friendly too, so your two well-behaved four-legged friends (for a small nightly fee) can join the trip.

As a guest, you have free access to the on-site farm park, where you can meet animals like alpacas and lambs – a fun extra for animal lovers and anyone who enjoys a laid-back, rural vibe. You’ll also get discounts at the farm’s shop, which sells tasty local produce for easy breakfasts or BBQ nights.

Despite the peaceful setting, you’re only a few minutes’ drive from Hertford’s centre and the A10. Spend an afternoon exploring Hertford Castle and its public gardens, or follow the Chadwell Way Sculpture Trail – a scenic five-mile route linking Hertford, Ware and Great Amwell. Do keep in mind a few house rules: no swimming in the lake and no open flames inside.
