Chalet Pirkach is a charming, authentic wooden chalet high above the Mölltal Valley in Carinthia, at an altitude of 1300 metres. With space for up to 5 guests, this cosy hideaway in the village of Mörtschach is perfect if you’re dreaming of fresh mountain air, starry nights and endless hiking trails starting right from your front door.

Inside, you’ll find a warm and welcoming living/dining room where you can relax after a day in the mountains. The small but well-equipped kitchen comes with a fridge, mini-oven and microwave, so you can easily prepare simple meals and snacks. There are 2 bedrooms, one of them with an extra folding bed, and a modern bathroom. Everything is compact, comfortable and made for relaxed mountain living.

Step outside and you’ll really feel the magic of this place. The chalet is quietly located on the edge of the forest, with a balcony and garden where you can enjoy the panoramic views over the valley and surrounding peaks. There’s garden furniture ready for sunny breakfasts, long reads with a coffee, or a glass of wine at sunset. You can park your car directly at the chalet, so you don’t need to carry your luggage far.

From the front door, countless hiking trails fan out through the area, many reaching up above 2500 metres. The nearby Astental is a dream for outdoor lovers, offering great routes for hiking, mountaineering and mountain biking. In winter, Mörtschach is an ideal base for ski days in Heiligenblut, on the Mölltal Glacier or in the Lienz Dolomites. And good news for animal lovers: your dog is welcome too (1 pet allowed).

The small national park village of Mörtschach lies between the mighty three-thousand-metre peaks of the Schober Group and close to Austria’s highest mountain, the Großglockner. It’s a fantastic starting point for demanding climbing tours, relaxed hikes and varied cycling routes. On warm summer days, you can cool off at the Tauernbad in Mallnitz, the Oberdrauburg adventure pool or the outdoor adventure pool in Winklern.
