Velthorst - 4 persons

We booked a stay at EuroParcs Zilverstrand for my birthday (staying Saturday to Tuesday) in a Cube La Mer 4 unit. We paid €597.84 specifically because the listing explicitly stated it was located "directly on the waterfront."
​What followed was a deeply frustrating experience from start to finish:
​Deceitful Listing & Rude Staff: On arrival, we were given keys to a unit at the far edge of the park—as far from the water as possible, and with no Wi-Fi. When my husband pointed out we paid for a waterfront unit, reception dismissively told us the website was "wrong" and treated us as if we were the problem. Only after 5 minutes of firm argument did a waterfront unit suddenly "become available."
​Closed Amenities & Extra Costs: The main resort lake was closed one of the days due to blue-green algae. We were never offered a discounted alternative by staff, forcing us to pay out-of-pocket to visit a nearby lake (Zilvermeer) just to use basic water facilities.

After raising these issues with EuroParcs customer service, they flatly refused any partial refund or reimbursement for our extra expenses, and outright shut down further communication.
​Extremely disappointing customer service and misleading property descriptions. Avoid this park if you expect transparency or decent hospitality.

The park isn’t bad. It just could have used a little more greenery. Upon arrival, we found out that the lake where we planned to go stand-up paddleboarding was closed due to blue-green algae. Do something about it. We came here specifically for that. We don’t know when we’ll be allowed to paddleboard. The campground store has very little on the shelves. So you’ll have to do your grocery shopping in town. The brasserie is very uninviting. Everything is housed in a single building that looks outdated. For kids, though, there’s a large playground and a swimming pool.

We had a really fun weekend. Everyone was so welcoming. The cottage was very nice. The shower was wonderful. The beds were comfortable. There was a fun go-kart track. And a really fun bingo game.

The park’s central area is very limited.
Due to the blue-green algae—which the park can’t do anything about—there’s not much to see at the park to begin with.
The luxury glamping tent was very dusty.
The floor and cabinets were clean, but there was a dirty layer of dust on top of the cabinets.
The air conditioner had a thick layer of dust on top of the mesh filter.
This caused your throat to feel like it was on fire.
I spent an hour cleaning first.
A vacuum cleaner that spewed dust didn’t help either.
Protective covers for the mattresses and pillows all had to be shaken out outside.
On Friday and Saturday, starting at 10:30 p.m., music started playing somewhere—it was a total racket, like a big party—and went on until around 4 a.m.
Honestly, if you have kids or are over 30, you have no business being here. Unless the top floor appeals to you.

A beautifully maintained home in a well-kept park.
Friendliness is their greatest asset. Child-friendly.

We had a great time here. We booked a bungalow by the fishing pond, and it was really nice. One small downside: the chairs could probably use an upgrade. We’ll definitely be back.
