In the area you will find beautiful nature where there are plenty of hiking and biking trails. Don't forget to admire the beautiful landscape from the water, too. Rent a whisper boat or go active kayaking or supping. Behind the campsite is the Mynekomplas, a beautiful piece of nature where you can spot beavers at night. Tasting: Chocolaterie Bonaparte

Of course, Belgian chocolate should not be missing during your vacation! Chocolaterie Bonaparte is an artisan chocolate maker and store located in the historic center of Maaseik. Here you will find a wide range of homemade chocolates, including pralines, truffles, chocolate bars and much more. There are workshops and tastings where you can learn more about chocolate, its production and of course taste. A must-visit for all chocolate lovers.

Wine Estate Aldeneyck

Wijndomein Aldeneyck is an award-winning vineyard located next to Camping de Boomgaard. The wine domain is known for its excellent Belgian wines and you have the opportunity to enjoy a wine tasting on the wine terrace or in the renovated wine bar. On the wine terrace you can taste the wines of Aldeneyck extensively while enjoying a delicious cheese and meat board and enjoy the beautiful view over the vineyard. Maaseik is a pleasant town 2 km from the campsite. It is best known for its historic center and its location on the Meuse River. Visit the Regional Archaeological Museum and learn more about the archaeological history of the region. Visit Maaseik's Town Hall, a beautiful Renaissance-style building dating back to the 16th century. St. Catherine's Church dates from the 14th century and has beautiful Gothic architecture. Inside, you can admire a number of valuable works of art, including some paintings by the famous Flemish artist Pieter Bruegel the Elder. And of course you can store in the cozy center with plenty of nice stores, boutiques and specialty stores. And at the market you can buy fresh produce every Thursday morning.

However, the sanitary facilities are perceived as outdated and not always clean, with complaints about limescale, odours and limited shower capacity. Some guests feel the price-quality ratio is not balanced and experience noise disturbances, especially when groups have booked.

    We stayed three nights in the safari tent with an excellent view of the Maas. It’s set a little apart from the rest, giving you a wonderful, cozy feeling and a fantastic view of the river. The tent is very well equipped—it has everything you need. In short: don’t hesitate if you’re looking for peace, space, and a connection with nature. Just … spending the whole day there is wonderful. Thanks! Tip: On weekends, there’s quite a bit of recreational boating on the river (when the weather’s nice) for those who enjoy watching it, and during the week, it’s completely peaceful again.

    Verbleven drie nachten in de safaritent met excellent view op de Maas. Deze staat een beetje apart van de rest en geeft een zalig cocon gevoel en fantastisch zicht op de rivier. De tent is heel goed uitgerust, alles wat je nodig hebt. Kortom: niet twijfelen als je rust, ruimte en contact met de natuur wil. Daar gewoon heel de dag vertoeven is heerlijk. Bedankt! Tip: in het weekend is er redelijk wat pleziervaart op de rivier (bij goed weer) voor wie dat leuk vindt om naar te kijken en de rust is er dan weer helemaal in de week.

    A very quiet campground right on the banks of the Meuse River. We stayed in a Duo Lodge camping tent, which met our expectations. The outdoor kitchen was minimally equipped, but certainly sufficient for us to manage on our own for two days. The owner is very helpful.

    Een zeer rustige camping recht aan de oevers van de Maas. Wij sliepen in Duo Lodge camping tent die aan de verwachtingen voldeed. De buitenkeuken was minimaal uitgerust, maar zeker voldoende om twee dagen onze plan te trekken. De eigenaar is zeer behulpzaam.

    A quiet campground in a great location. Ideal for cycling near junction 25. Nice sites, but you have to park your car in the parking lot (which is nearby). The restrooms have been renovated, but the water could be a little warmer. There’s no awning over the sinks, which made washing dishes unpleasant when it rained.

    Rustige camping met prima ligging. Ideaal voor fietsen nabij knooppunt 25. Mooie plaatsen maar auto moet wel op parking gezet (dichtbij). Vernieuwd sanitair maar water mocht iets warmer. Geen afdakje bij de afwasbakken en bij regen was dit niet aangenaam.

    We really enjoyed our stay at Camping De Boomgaard in Maaseik! We received a very warm welcome, and the owner was incredibly helpful.

    The campground is beautifully situated along the Meuse River. We especially loved the dock: it was wonderful to jump into the water and go for a swim. There are also picnic benches along the water where you … can sit comfortably and enjoy the peace and quiet and the beautiful view.

    The renovated restrooms were very clean and tidy, which is always nice, of course.

    We also rented a rowboat through the campground, which we highly recommend! That way, we were able to explore the beautiful surroundings from the water as well.

    A wonderful spot for anyone who loves peace and quiet, nature, and water. We had an absolutely wonderful time and would love to come back here again!

    Wat hebben wij genoten van ons verblijf bij Camping De Boomgaard in Maaseik! We werden heel vriendelijk ontvangen en de uitbater was ontzettend behulpzaam.

    De camping ligt prachtig aan de Maas. Vooral de steiger vonden wij geweldig: heerlijk om even het water in te springen en te zwemmen. Langs het water staan ook picknickbanken waar je gezellig kunt zitten en genieten van de rust en het mooie uitzicht.

    Het vernieuwde sanitair was erg schoon en netjes, wat natuurlijk altijd fijn is.

    Wij hebben via de camping ook een sloep gehuurd, wat we absoluut kunnen aanraden! Zo hebben we de prachtige omgeving ook vanaf het water kunnen ontdekken.

    Een heerlijke plek voor wie houdt van rust, natuur en water. Wij hebben het ontzettend naar onze zin gehad en komen hier graag nog eens terug!
