By land, by water: get out into nature

In the area you will find beautiful nature where there are plenty of hiking and biking trails. Don't forget to admire the beautiful landscape from the water, too. Rent a whisper boat or go active kayaking or supping. Behind the campsite is the Mynekomplas, a beautiful piece of nature where you can spot beavers at night. For nature lovers, there is plenty of flora and fauna to discover in the vicinity of the glamping on the Meuse.

Tasting: Chocolaterie Bonaparte

Of course, Belgian chocolate should not be missing during your vacation! Chocolaterie Bonaparte is an artisan chocolate maker and store located in the historic center of Maaseik. Here you will find a wide range of homemade chocolates, including pralines, truffles, chocolate bars and much more. There are workshops and tastings where you can learn more about chocolate, its production and of course taste. A must-visit for all chocolate lovers.

Wine Estate Aldeneyck

Wijndomein Aldeneyck is an award-winning vineyard located next to Camping de Boomgaard. The wine domain is known for its excellent Belgian wines and you have the opportunity to enjoy a wine tasting on the wine terrace or in the renovated wine bar. On the wine terrace you can taste the wines of Aldeneyck extensively while enjoying a delicious cheese and meat board and enjoy the beautiful view over the vineyard. In the renovated wine bar you can enjoy an extensive wine tasting and various events and workshops are organized, such as wine and food evenings and workshops on wine making. In addition, you can take a guided tour where you will learn all about the production process of the wines and the estate itself.

Visit and discover Maaseik

Maaseik is a pleasant town 2 km from the campsite. It is best known for its historic center and its location on the Meuse River. Visit the Regional Archaeological Museum and learn more about the archaeological history of the region. Visit Maaseik's Town Hall, a beautiful Renaissance-style building dating back to the 16th century. St. Catherine's Church dates from the 14th century and has beautiful Gothic architecture. Inside, you can admire a number of valuable works of art, including some paintings by the famous Flemish artist Pieter Bruegel the Elder. And of course you can store in the cozy center with plenty of nice stores, boutiques and specialty stores. And at the market you can buy fresh produce every Thursday morning.

The campsite is beautifully located directly on the banks of the Maas River and offers a peaceful base for hiking and cycling through the Limburg countryside. Guests appreciate the spacious pitches, friendly staff and cosy atmosphere, with picnic tables and benches along the water where you can enjoy the view. However, the sanitary facilities are perceived as outdated and not always clean, with complaints about limescale, odours and limited shower capacity. Some guests feel the price-quality ratio is not balanced and experience noise disturbances, especially when groups have booked.

    This is our second time here, and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed it once again. The first time we stayed on the campground, and this time we brought our RV—both experiences were fantastic.

    The owner is friendly and hospitable, making you feel right at home. The new restroom facilities are modern, clean, and well-maintained. The beautiful view and the cozy atmosphere really top it all off.

    During our stay, we also took advantage of the boat rental. We went out on the water at sunset, which was an amazing experience. We received clear instructions beforehand, and everything was perfectly organized.

    A campground we’d love to visit again. Highly recommended!

    We zijn hier ondertussen voor de tweede keer geweest en opnieuw enorm genoten. De eerste keer verbleven we op de tentenweide, deze keer met de caravan, en beide ervaringen waren top.

    De eigenaar is vriendelijk en gastvrij, waardoor je je meteen welkom voelt. De nieuwe sanitaire voorzieningen zijn modern, netjes en goed onderhouden. Het prachtige uitzicht en de gezellige sfeer maken het helemaal af.

    Tijdens ons verblijf maakten we ook gebruik van de bootverhuur. We gingen voor zonsondergang het water op, wat een geweldige ervaring was. We kregen duidelijke uitleg vooraf en alles was perfect geregeld.

    Een camping waar we met plezier nog eens terugkomen. Absoluut een aanrader!

    We really enjoyed our vacation at this campground. The campsites are spacious. Electricity and water are available at every site. The restrooms have been renovated. Free showers. A lovely area for hiking and biking. Outdoor cafes and restaurants are right nearby. You can swim in the Meuse River from a dock. There are benches along the riverbank where you can enjoy the view—pleasure boats, water skiers, and more...
