Cycling along the Parenzana route
Hop on your bike and discover the famous Parenzana route, a former railway line that has been transformed into a beautiful cycling path. You’ll ride through green valleys, olive groves, and charming villages, passing old viaducts and tunnels along the way. The route connects Umag with historic towns in the hinterland and constantly offers new views of both sea and countryside. Along the way, stop at a local winemaker or taste fresh olive oil. It’s an active way to explore Istria while enjoying peace, nature, and culture.

Historical centre of Umag
Wander through the narrow streets of Umag’s old town and soak up the Venetian atmosphere that still lingers. You’ll see colorful houses, a lively square, and the ancient city walls that preserve stories from the Middle Ages. Visit the Parish Church of the Virgin Mary and stroll along the promenade where fishing boats gently float in the harbor. End your exploration with a cup of coffee or a glass of Malvazija wine on a terrace overlooking the Adriatic Sea. This is how you truly experience the charm and history of Umag up close.
Tasting wine and olive oil
Around Umag, you’ll find countless vineyards and olive groves that have made the region famous. Visit a local winery and taste characteristic Istrian wines such as Malvazija and Teran, paired with small bites. Take a guided tour through the wine cellar and discover the artisanal process behind the bottles. Afterwards, sample fresh olive oil, often straight from the producer. You’ll learn how to recognize the different flavors and why Istrian olive oil wins awards worldwide. An afternoon of tasting feels like a journey through the soul of Istria.
Day trip to Poreč
Hop in the car and drive in less than an hour to Poreč, one of Istria’s most famous coastal towns. Here you can admire the renowned Euphrasian Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with stunning mosaics. Stroll through the old town with its cobbled streets and charming shops. You’ll sense the Italian influences in the architecture and taste them in the local cuisine. After your cultural discoveries, enjoy a seaside lunch or take a boat trip along the coast. A day trip to Poreč combines history, culture, and relaxation all in one.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with this campsite. The nearest shopping facilities are about 8 km away, which is very impractical, especially without a car. The prices at the campsite itself were also clearly overpriced. Of the wash houses available, two were closed for renovation work. In addition, the areas were often soiled by bird droppings, which did not leave a well-kept impression. We had a particularly negative impression of the reception. The staff were very unfriendly and unhelpful during our stay. A friendly approach to the guests looks different. The website advertises animation and entertainment. However, there was no entertainment at all during our stay, which is certainly disappointing. The only positive things we would like to highlight are the other campers, who were very friendly and helpful, and the lady in the wash house, who was always friendly and committed. We would therefore not recommend this campsite to others and would not visit again
