Great campground with super-clean restrooms that are staffed all day. Beautiful turquoise swimming cove, but like 90% of beaches in Croatia, it’s a pebble beach. The water, though, is crystal clear.

In terms of the campground itself, we really liked Čikat. The entire grounds are exceptionally well-maintained, and the restrooms were consistently very clean throughout our stay. The location is also ideal: it’s very well-connected, and you can reach the city in no time by bike, which is extremely convenient for day trips.
The reason we’re still only giving it 3 stars is the utterly misleading description of the campground and the disappointing customer service we received beforehand: We had specifically booked the expensive “Superior Mare” category because the name, the “first-row” sample photos on the website, and the text (“in the front row facing the sea...”) suggested a site right on the water. Since we noticed on the site map that the plot assigned to us was located very far in the back, we emailed weeks before our arrival to ask whether we would actually be right on the water. Unfortunately, the camp’s response was just a standard boilerplate statement that the site belonged to that category—they didn’t address our concerns at all.

Once we arrived, our suspicions were confirmed: the site is located on the very edge of the yellow zone. You’re effectively in the 3rd or 4th row here, looking only at the campers in front of you, with the cheaper, purple category right behind you—absolutely no trace of a sea view. The fine print does say, “...and in the remaining area of the camp,” but selling a row set so far inland as a premium “Mare” spot for double the price is pure profit-maximization at the expense of the guests. For this location, a regular campsite for half the price would have sufficed.
