A very nice campsite that leaves little to be desired. We booked a campsite for 3 nights and were able to choose one upon arrival. The site was large enough for us. We had a water hookup at our spot, but it’s shared by several people. So if you don’t have a long enough hose, you’ll have to run it across your neighbor’s spot.
The beach is made … of gravel, though there’s some sand in the water as well, and it’s quite narrow. There’s a nice path right along the water that takes you to Rab town in about 30 minutes. Stayed at the campground
. It was very dirty—the lawn was littered with cigarette butts and wrappers, and the reception staff was overwhelmed. They overcharged me for one day.
. The proximity to Rab is great, and the drive there along the coast is very beautiful.

Overall, we rate the Padova Campground in Banjol on Rab 4 out of 5 stars. The campground itself has many positive aspects and generally offers very good conditions for a pleasant stay. Particularly noteworthy are the new, spacious, and very clean restroom facilities, which were cleaned regularly during our stay. The only drawback, in our opinion, … was that the water pressure in the showers was significantly too low. Another positive aspect is the generously sized campsites. Many sites are separated from one another by waist-high hedges, which enhance the campground’s appearance while also providing some privacy. The beautiful old pine grove also provides ample natural shade. The sea is clear and clean, and the water taxi service to Rab is extremely convenient. The area is also excellent for dining: there are several highly recommended restaurants in the immediate vicinity, including Perla and Batana. However, we found the road noise—which was sometimes quite noticeable—to be a nuisance.

The biggest point of criticism clearly concerns the organization during check-in and the assignment of sites. At check-in, we were given the numbers of available sites, which were then assigned to others at the last minute. After we had subsequently chosen another site, we properly reported its number to the front desk and received written confirmation. Nevertheless, our site apparently remained listed as “available” in the system. As a result, other campers came to our site several times because it was evidently shown to them as available. In the evening, we were even checked by campground staff to see if we were possibly staying on the site without having registered. After speaking with other guests, it seems this problem was not an isolated incident. In our view, there is a clear need for organizational improvements here.

Overall, however, it is a nice and well-equipped campground in an attractive location, though the process for assigning campsites in particular needs to be more reliable. Read more Show less
