Walk through the bunkers of Hirtshals
Visit the Bunker Museum 10th Battery in Hirtshals, the only fully excavated defense work from the Second World War. It is impressive to walk through the excavated bunkers and trenches and see how the German soldiers lived and worked here during the Second World War. As you walk through the cannons and machine gun positions, you can almost feel the history around you. It is an interesting experience that gives a clear picture of that time.
Visit the ferry town of Hirtshals
When you stay at Tornby Strand Camping, it is highly recommended to visit Hirtshals. The ferry town is located close to the campsite and right at the very north of Denmark. It is a harbor town with a truly maritime atmosphere, where you can walk along the quay and watch the fishing boats come in, while large ferries depart for Norway. You can feel the fresh sea air and enjoy the wide beaches and dunes. Visit the North Sea Oceanarium to discover marine life, or walk to the lighthouse for a fantastic view over the coast. Hirtshals is small and cozy, perfect for a day or weekend getaway, where you can fully experience nature and the North Sea feeling.
Dive into the North Sea Oceanarium
A visit to the North Sea Oceanarium in Hirtshals is a fun experience close to Tornby Strand Camping. It is the largest aquarium in Northern Europe, and you can spend hours wandering among the hundreds of tanks filled with fish, rays, sharks, and sunfish. At the touch pool, you can feel starfish and crabs yourself, which makes it extra fun for children or if you're just curious. Outside, you can watch and feed the seals, which can be quite a spectacle. It almost feels like you're spending a day in the North Sea itself, and it's a perfect way to actively discover something new.

A nice campground near Hirtshals and the beach; everything is easily accessible by bike.
We think the electricity charges are a total rip-off—a 20 DKK electricity/meter fee, plus 52.20 DKK for 11.5 kW of electricity consumption (plus tax) for just under two days is way too much.this is a translation, click here for the original
