Also visit the Église Sainte-Croix church and the cozy restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy the local dishes and wines.

Plenty of history in Bourbon l'Archambault
Bourbon l'Archambault has much to offer in terms of history and culture. The town used to be the seat of the Dukes of Bourbon, and the remains of their castle are still visible at the top of a hill in the center of town. Also visit the church of Saint-Georges, built in the 11th century, and the Maison Bourbon, a beautiful Renaissance building that once served as the residence of the dukes.
Feast your eyes on Street Art City
Lurcy-Lévis is also known as "Street Art City" due to the fact that the village is a large outdoor gallery for street art. Lurcy-Lévis is home to a 10-hectare former military camp, which now houses the largest street art center in Europe. This center, called "Street Art City," provides a unique place where street art artists from all over the world can display their creativity. There are more than 150 murals on display in Lurcy-Lévis, all created by various street art artists. The village also hosts regular markets and events, such as the annual "Fête des Potiers" (Festival of Potters) where you can learn about local crafts and traditions.
Forêt de Tronçais
Within walking distance of the campground is the Forêt de Tronçais. It is one of the largest oak forests in Europe. The forest is named after the village of Tronçais which lies in the heart of the forest. Forêt de Tronçais is known for its old oaks, some of these trees are more than 400 years old and have a circumference of more than 5 meters. You can enjoy hiking and biking here. You can also find several lakes and ponds that are popular for fishing and swimming. There are also several castles and mansions in the forest that date back to the 17th and 18th centuries. The most famous of these is the Château d'Ainay-le-Vieil.

During our cycling trip, we ended up at this campground on a last-minute whim—and what a cozy place it is! The sites are very spacious, quiet, and beautifully green. The main building is incredibly cozy, but the real icing on the cake is the hospitable owners. Thanks to their warm welcome and the delicious “We’re here!” snack, it immediately felt like coming home. Highly recommended for anyone who just wants to enjoy their trip!

Update Jul 2026: We camped with our trailer for 4 nights. Huge campsites with plenty of privacy and peace and quiet. We joined them for dinner again—delicious and cozy.
2023: We stayed for a midweek getaway and enjoyed the hospitality, the modern, spacious room, the delicious breakfast, and, of course, the peace and quiet. Right in front of … the house, you can step onto the trail and head in any direction for walking, biking, or mountain biking through the fields and forests. Charming villages are just a quarter of an hour away. And at night, you can really see the Milky Way here. We’ll definitely be back—see you then, Karin & Chris.this is a translation, click here for the original

The surrounding area is beautiful for hiking, biking, and visiting small towns.
The table d’hôte was cozy, and … Karin is an excellent cook.
There are also safari tents available for rent. Every site offers plenty of privacy. Highly recommended!this is a translation, click here for the original
