General information

A tent, yes, but with a wooden floor. This atmospheric tent lodge combines the authentic feeling of camping with extra comfort and a natural look. Thanks to the wooden floor, the terrace and the practical layout, you stay right in the middle of nature without having to camp completely basic. The tent fits in beautifully with its surroundings and offers a cosy place for a relaxing holiday.

The accommodation has two bedrooms: one with a double bed and one with two single beds. Blankets and pillows are included, but you need to bring your own bed linen and towels. The kitchen is fully equipped with, among other things, a fridge, electric hob and kitchen inventory, so you can easily prepare your own meals.

Outside, you can enjoy a terrace with garden furniture, ideal for eating together or relaxing in the open air. The tent does not have its own bathroom; you use the sanitary building at the campsite.

    Cancellation of stay


    Cancellation (total or partial) by the CUSTOMER: If the CUSTOMER wishes to cancel his stay, he must notify ONLYCAMP by sending an e-mail to the camping address. ONLYCAMP reminds the CUSTOMER that in the absence of cancellation according to the provisions of this article, the CUSTOMER will be obliged to pay the entire amount due under the Contract. Regardless of the cancellation date, the file and optional insurance fees are non-refundable. The date of acknowledgment of receipt of the cancellation email shall determine any cancellation fee according to the rate below:

    In rental housing :

    • cost of 40% up to 30 days before the arrival date
    • cost of 100% from 29 days before the arrival date

    Cancellation by ONLYCAMP (excluding force majeure) : In the event of cancellation before the CUSTOMER's departure from his residence to the CAMPING AREA, the amounts paid by the CUSTOMER will be refunded in full by ONLYCAMP after notification of the cancellation by e-mail or registered letter and according to the provisions of article L 214-1 of the Consumer Code. In the event of cancellation after the CUSTOMER's departure from his place of residence to the campsite of his Lodging, ONLYCAMP undertakes to offer to CUSTOMERS an equivalent Lodging whereby possible price increases may be borne and, if the services accepted by the CUSTOMER are of inferior quality, ONLYCAMP will refund him the difference.

    No use of additional services: Additional services booked by the CUSTOMER and not used by him will not entitle him to a refund.

    STAYS / OFFERS / RATES NON-CANCELLABLE AND EXCHANGEABLE ONLYCAMP may offer stays at advantageous rates on certain dates that are non-modifiable, non-refundable, non-exchangeable. Therefore, ONLYCAMP will not consider requests for modification or cancellation: no refunds will be possible, including reimbursement of additional services booked.

    A large campground with no marked sites. Friendly service at the front desk.

    We’ve been coming to Camping La Gatine since 2008, and we’ve never written a review… it’s almost a must after so many years! For us, it’s our “camping stop” on our trips through Europe, and we always come back with the same excitement.

    The location is simply idyllic: right next to the Cher River, just a short bike ride from Chenonceau Castle, with bike paths running along the river all the way to Tours. Plus, there are supermarkets, bakeries, and all the amenities nearby, yet it still retains its peaceful, natural atmosphere.

    The campsites are huge, very clean, and have grass (this year the grass is drier due to the drought, but that doesn’t detract from how well-maintained it is). We love setting up next to the poplar grove, right by the water; it’s our favorite spot.

    The restrooms are always spotless and stocked with toilet paper—a thoughtful touch we really appreciate. And we’re glad to see they’re adding wooden cabins for those who don’t have a tent or RV, expanding their offerings.

    All in all, a comfortable, well-maintained campground in a prime location in the Loire Valley. Thank you for so many wonderful memories! We’ll definitely keep coming back.

    Llevamos viniendo al Camping La Gatine desde 2008, y nunca habíamos escrito una reseña... ¡casi un deber después de tantos años! Para nosotros es nuestro "camping viaje" en nuestras rutas por Europa, y siempre volvemos con la misma ilusión.

    La ubicación es sencillamente idílica: junto al río Cher, a un paso en bici del Castillo de Chenonceau y con carriles bici que bordean el río hasta Tours. Además, tienes supermercados, panaderías y todos los servicios cerca, pero sin perder el ambiente tranquilo y natural.

    Las parcelas son enormes, muy limpias y con césped (este año el césped está más seco por la sequía, pero eso no le quita mérito al mantenimiento). Nos encanta colocarnos junto a la chopera, al lado del agua; es nuestro rincón favorito.

    Los baños están siempre impecables y con papel higiénico, un detalle que se agradece. Y nos alegra ver que están poniendo casitas de madera para quienes no llevan tienda o caravana, ampliando la oferta.

    En definitiva, un camping cómodo, bien cuidado, en una zona privilegiada de los Castillos del Loira. ¡Gracias por tantos buenos recuerdos! Sin duda, seguiremos viniendo.

    A wonderfully peaceful campground where you can pick your own spot. It was wonderfully quiet at night, and we slept very well. At €18 per night, it’s also very affordable!

    We did share our spot with an entire ant colony, though. They seemed to have been living there a bit longer than we had, by the way. 🐜

    The restrooms were a bit of a surprise: one restroom building was pretty dirty, while the other, thankfully, looked a lot cleaner. There were also plenty of spiderwebs. 🕷️

    In the morning, we saw the cleaner at work. The toilets and sinks were cleaned with the same cloth… let’s just say that after that, we had a slightly different perspective on the word “clean.” 😅

    In short: for €18, it was a nice, quiet campground where we slept well. With a little more attention to hygiene, it would be absolutely perfect!

    Heerlijk rustige camping waar je zelf een plekje kunt uitzoeken. ’s Nachts was het heerlijk stil en we hebben prima geslapen. Voor €18 per nacht ook nog eens erg goedkoop!

    Onze plek deelden we wel met een complete mierenkolonie. Zij leken er overigens al wat langer te wonen dan wij. 🐜

    Het sanitair was een beetje een verrassing: één toiletgebouw was behoorlijk vies, terwijl het andere er gelukkig een stuk netter uitzag. Spinnenwebben waren ook ruim vertegenwoordigd. 🕷️

    ’s Ochtends zagen we de schoonmaker aan het werk. De wc’s én spoelbakken werden met hetzelfde doekje schoongemaakt… laten we zeggen dat we daarna iets anders naar het woord ‘schoon’ keken. 😅

    Kortom: voor €18 een fijne, rustige camping waar we goed hebben geslapen. Met wat meer aandacht voor de hygiëne zou het helemaal top zijn!
