Waterfalls of Tendon

"La Cascade de Tendon" are 2 beautiful waterfalls in the middle of the forest. The waterfalls are popular with people looking for a peaceful, natural setting for picnicking or swimming, as well as for taking beautiful photos. At 35 meters, the large waterfall is the highest in the entire Vosges Mountains. Follow a rocky path along the gently flowing mountain river Scouet and climb to the base of the waterfall in a few minutes. The water cascades down through a high, rugged rock face amid the green jungle. Want to see more? Then climb a slightly steeper, rocky path to the top of the waterfall. At the top of the big waterfall is even a mountain restaurant.

Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park

This protected nature reserve in the Vosges Mountains covers an area of about 55,000 hectares and is known for its beautiful landscapes of rolling hills, forests and meadows. The park is home to various plant and animal species, including rare and endangered species such as the black stork and the European wild cat. Do you enjoy hiking? Then you are in the right place as the park has many different hiking trails, ranging from easy nature walks to challenging mountain treks, with beautiful viewpoints. Or hop on a bike and tour the beautiful natural landscape. For the truly adventurous, there is a range of outdoor activities such as rock climbing, paragliding and hang gliding. The park also has guided tours, nature workshops and other educational activities suitable for all ages.

Excursion to the Gérardmer

A 15-minute drive from the glamping is Gérardmer, the largest natural lake in the Vosges, surrounded by beautiful forests. Head in that direction to relax in, or choose instead to make it an active day. Rent a boat or paddleboat to take on the lake, or how about renting a SUP board?

Summary created out of 250 reviews

The park is praised for its friendly and helpful staff who provide a warm welcome and excellent service. Guests appreciate the beautiful natural surroundings with a charming stream where children love to play. The covered heated swimming pool is a major highlight, along with the spacious pitches and well-maintained sanitary facilities. Some guests find the pitches along the stream narrow and close together, and there are comments about water pressure in the showers and dishwashing areas.

Just outside of the mountains of the Vosges. Great camping site, lots to do for the kids. Pool on the smaller side. Popular with the Dutch people. Lots of smaller children. Our son of 12 years old was definitely the oldest we saw. The place to wash your dishes is always occupied at night. Very busy. Not enough toilets and showers. Maybe make another sanitary building on the other side of the campinggrounds? There are foodtrucks that visit the site on a regular basis. Pizza, Asian, Rotisserie. In the afternoon you can by crepes 4 days a week. There is a friterie where you can buy French fries and hotdogs. Every Tuesday is a winetasting and on Thursdays you can join owner Pascaline on a stargazing experience. The swimming pool is tiny and the water was murky and gave my son a rash.

The campground itself was really great: run by a brother and sister, no big entertainment programs, just small-scale activities: stargazing with the local astronomy club on the field behind the campground, a different food truck every day, fresh fries cooked in a little hut, a biathlon introduction (lots of “i”s in that word, huh?), a pool table, an indoor pool, a weekly circus, and other games for the little ones—in short: three stars that are more than well-deserved.
We also had a great spot: 30 meters from the restrooms and the pool. No disturbances.
A spot that was big enough to fit the folding trailer, awning, canopy, and the car. A campground manager who helps you find a solution if there’s a problem.
We really, really enjoyed our stay here.
Many attractions are nearby or just an hour’s drive away. The Route des Crêtes and Le Grand Ballon are just a stone’s throw away.
And yes: if you’re parked at the back of the campground, the restroom block is a bit of a walk.
And yes, if you need to use the restroom or take a shower during peak hours, you might have to wait a little while. If you plan it out smartly and shower a bit earlier or later than when parents with small children are using the facilities, it’s not too bad. During our two-and-a-half-week stay, I never had to wait in line for the restroom or shower. Hot water is also readily available.
A bread delivery service is available.
The village is within walking distance along the street or through the woods, and it takes 10 minutes.
There’s an evening market during the summer season.
