Cycling on Île de Ré

Île de Ré is made to be explored by bike. Across the whole island there is a network of cycle paths that takes you past villages, beaches and salt marshes. Along the way you pass small markets, terraces and harbors. The routes are flat and easy to follow, so you can easily set out for a day without any fixed plan. Bike rental is available near the campsite.

Villages, harbors and local produce

Around the campsite, there are villages where daily life largely takes place outdoors. In Rivedoux-Plage you walk along the harbor, watch oyster farmers at work and buy fresh produce from small shops or markets. The white houses with colored shutters and hollyhocks define the streetscape. Further on the island there are more villages like this, each with its own atmosphere. You wander through narrow streets, stop for a coffee or join in for local dishes. Oysters and other shellfish and crustaceans play a major role here. It is not a place where you tick everything off, but where you wander around and naturally linger somewhere.

Active outdoors: sport and nature

Besides beaches and villages, there is plenty to do for those who want to stay active. In the area, you can go SUPing, kayaking, or sailing along the coast. Horse riding is also among the possibilities, as well as fishing or walking along the coastlines and through nature reserves on the island. The combination of water and land makes it easy to alternate. Out on the water in the morning, later in the day cycling or going for a walk. Due to the flat landscape and short distances, everything stays easy to navigate. You do not need to plan much to still have a varied day, and many activities are within short distance of the campsite.

A poor campground along a main road with old restroom facilities that aren’t even kept clean. Poor service when we asked for a better campsite for our caravan. Only after we insisted were we allowed to choose, even though occupancy was below 50%. A disgrace.

Cold welcome, no one there to assist us.
We weren’t told at the time of booking that there’s no locking system for the Cotoon Flowers.
It’s unfortunate that you have to cross a road to get to the pool, which isn’t actually on the campground itself—it’s part of the neighboring campground...
Unsupervised, as we saw people swimming fully clothed—and perhaps not even campground guests.
Entertainment wasn’t great—in fact, it was canceled at the last minute....
Very busy and noisy road—really not relaxing.
In short, a lot of negatives.

After coming here for 5 years I think this will be our last
Very difficult to book in May this year as we were told we had to have a certain pitch onsite due to the size of one of our motorhomes, which on arrival was not the case.
Toilets were only washed down with water each day.
After travelling for a week before arriving here we wanted to use the washing machines they advertised, only
To be told they were not in use and to try over the road at the supermarket as they have machines, when you are disabled this would be quite a trek.
Swimming pool had no life guard and no one was enforcing who was coming or going.the toilets were flooded most days and there was no toilet paper, which means people are just going straight back in to the pool :(
Pitches were not suitable for our Vw campervan as it was all black dried muck then soft sand which we struggled to get out of.
We sent a email of complaint and as yet we haven’t had a reply, we are also waiting a refund but they are unlawfully keeping our money.
New company has taken it over so be aware, English customers are not welcome here

    STAY AWAY!!!!!!
If I could have given zero stars, I would have.
    We reserved one campsite.
The day before, I called them to find out if there was electricity at the campsite, and at no point were we told that we needed an adapter.
When we arrived, we were charged, and then we were told that out of three restroom facilities, only one was working properly—and it was on the opposite side of the campground from our site.
And the sites were ridiculously small. (Don’t even think about fitting both your tent and your vehicle on the site
Furthermore, the friendliness of the staff at the front desk (I’m referring specifically to the oldest member of the staff) was truly unpleasant when I went to tell them that I didn’t want to stay under these conditions
I asked for a refund or compensation, which was, of course, denied.
STAY AWAY if you want to have a pleasant stay on the island

The campground is in a good location but doesn't match the description.
There is no view of the sea, which is blocked by buildings that prevent other campers from seeing it.
