    The heat wave that swept across all of France in June 2026 interrupted my road trip, and I ended up at this beautiful campground on the Atlantic coast, where I stayed for 15 days.
    The campsites vary, and since I arrived in the off-season, I was able to choose one that suited my needs. Most sites are separated by hedges, providing privacy. The beach is right next door, but it’s not really suitable for swimming—not even at high tide. It’s a natural beach with rocks, shells, and plants...very interesting for relaxing, taking photos, and observing nature, but for swimming, there are perfect beaches 5 km further away. You can rent bikes right at the campground and explore the entire island on them, since the bike network is excellent. A supermarket is within walking distance in town.
    You can hear the sea roaring and the wind whistling through the leaves. It’s totally relaxing there.
    The staff is very friendly and helpful, and I have absolutely no complaints about the restroom facilities. The water temperature in the showers and sinks can be adjusted individually. The only thing you might want to keep in mind is to bring a long power cord. It’s included in the price, but the outlet is sometimes two campsites away. You can pre-order breakfast and bread.
    I felt very comfortable there. Highly recommended!

    Die Hitzewelle, die ganz Frankreich im Juni 2026 erfasst hatte, unterbrach meine Autotour und ich bin am Atlantik auf diesem wunderschönen Campingplatz gelandet und 15 Tage geblieben.
    Die Stellplätze sind unterschiedlich und ich konnte mir in der Vorsaison noch einen, der meinen Bedürfnissen entspricht, aussuchen. Die meisten Plätze sind durch Hecken getrennt und geben so Privatsphäre. Der Strand ist gleich nebenan, aber zum Baden nicht wirklich geeignet. Auch nicht bei Flut. Es ist ein Naturstrand mit Steinen, Muscheln, Pflanzen...sehr interessant zum Verweilen, Fotografieren, Beobachten, aber zum Baden gibt es 5 km weiter tadellose Strände. Man kann sich direkt am Campingplatz Fahrräder ausborgen und die ganze Insel damit erkunden, weil das Radnetz hervorragend ist. Ein Supermarkt ist fußläufig im Ort erreichbar.
    Man hört das Meer rauschen und der Wind pfeift durch die Blätter. Es ist total entspannend da.
    Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und ich habe keinerlei Beanstandungen von den Sanitäranlagen. Die Wassertemperatur bei den Duschen und den Waschbecken lässt sich individuell einstellen. Das einzige vielleicht,auf das man achten könnte, wäre ein langes Kabel für den Stromanschluss mitzunehmen. Der ist im Preis inbegriffen, aber mitunter 2 Stellplätze entfernt. Frühstück und Brot kann man vorbestellen.
    Ich habe mich da sehr wohl gefühlt. Absolut empfehlenswert!

    We had actually booked the Huttopia Ars-et-Ré campground, but when we arrived, it turned out to be a very quiet campground, far removed from all the hustle and bustle of the island. At our request, the receptionist called Côte Sauvage. They still had availability there, and we were rebooked without any trouble. We received a warm welcome there. The campground was great and suited us better. The restrooms were clean and the sites were fine—a bit small, but big enough for us.

    We hadden eigenlijk Huttopia camping Ars en Ré besproken, maar toen we daar aankwamen bleek het wel een hele rustige camping te zijn, ver weg van alle leven van het eiland. De juffrouw van de receptie belde op ons verzoek naar Côte Sauvage. Daar was nog plek en we werden probleemloos omgeboekt. We werden er hartelijk ontvangen. De camping was prima en paste meer bij ons. Het sanitair was schoon en de plekken prima, wel wat klein, maar groot genoeg voor ons.
    Wat een prima service van Huttopia.
