We had a pleasant stay at this family-friendly campground
The only thing missing is a "city" area for young teens
The pizzeria could also stay open a little later—say, until 10 p.m.—to give us a little more time in the evening to enjoy ourselves, but other than that, the campground was great ❤️

We stayed at this campground for a two-week family vacation. What can I say: the bungalows are very spacious and new. The campground is simple and peaceful, and that’s part of its charm. For us, it’s very important to be able to relax and sleep well. The atmosphere is respectful and friendly, and being able to walk just a few steps from the pool to the ocean makes for a perfectly relaxing vacation!

Unfortunately, our experience at this campground was mediocre.

Although the showers and restrooms are of normal size, they lack a large roof, so it gets unbearably hot in direct sunlight. The ventilation in both the shower and restroom buildings is also very poor.
The pool is small and has no lounge chairs. However, the direct access to the sea is very nice.
The playground is rather unimpressive; there’s no play area for older children and teenagers, which meant that the youth used our camper, parked near the bocce court, as a soccer goal.

Also, something useful for future guests to know: the pizza food truck and the snack bar at the campground don’t accept debit cards—they only take cash.

The woman at the front desk, on the other hand, was very helpful, which we really appreciated.

As paying guests, we’re very surprised by owner Mélissa’s response to my husband’s previous review. She claims to speak “straight from the hip,” but she twists the facts and responds with marketing jargon to issues we didn’t even mention in the first place. She also markets the campground as a 4-star property, even though her own website officially lists it as 3 stars. It’s also noteworthy that she told my husband the pool meets a “four-star standard,” while in responses to other reviews she suddenly admits that the pool is small “because it’s easier to heat that way.” Although she advertises her “personal welcome,” we didn’t even see her once during our entire stay. It’s a shame that she dismisses genuine experiences as “deception.”

A more professional approach to feedback would have been more appropriate for the campground.

Google Review – Tamaris Campground in Martigues

We stayed at the Tamaris Campground in Martigues. As for the mobile home, we had no complaints: it was new, clean, and fully equipped.

However, there were several things that disappointed us. The mobile homes are very close together, to the point where privacy is really limited. For example, while we were sitting on our patio, we could hear very personal noises coming from the neighboring mobile home—even from inside their bedroom. This creates a rather uncomfortable sense of closeness.

The pool also seemed very small to us relative to the campground’s capacity. For example, there are only about 20 lounge chairs for 56 sites, which clearly isn’t enough when the campground is full.

We also regretted the complete lack of entertainment on the campground grounds.

Finally, regarding the surrounding area, we found that Martigues lacks entertainment and tourist activities right in the middle of August. In particular, we had expected to find small Provençal markets or more summer events, but we were quite disappointed in this regard.

In summary, the brand-new mobile home is a real plus, but the campground’s cramped layout, the small pool, the lack of entertainment, and the limited tourist attractions in the surrounding area left us with mixed feelings. In our opinion, the balance between the amenities offered and the overall experience could be improved.
