Located at the edge of the forest, the village offers a cozy fire pit as well as a vantage point for bird watching and relaxing. Within walking distance is the Postweiher with beach pool, slide and water fun for the whole family. There is also a playground, table tennis table and mountain bike trails. Across the street you'll find mini golf, a biergarten and an event meadow. In the mood for food? The Gaststätte Am Postweiher is known for its burgers, the kiosk at the beach pool serves snacks and on weekends there is fresh cake.
Freilingen is one of six Dachzelt Dorf locations in Germany, in addition to Thulba, Furtwangen im Schwarzwald, Amrum, Sandstedt and Rülzheim in the Palatinate.

Freilingen is idyllically situated at almost 500 meters altitude in the heart of the Westerwälder Seenplatte. The region offers some 130 km of hiking and biking trails, including the Westerwaldsteig, which runs directly past the village. For adventure, there are the Kletterwald Bad Marienberg, the Hachenburger Erlebnisbrauerei and the Stöffelpark. Culture enthusiasts can visit the Burgruine Hartenfels and the Landschaftsmuseum Westerwald in Hachenburg.
