Between pine forest and sea in Tuscany; Camping Etruria
Camping Etruria is located in an expansive pine forest on the Tuscan coast, within walking distance of the Mediterranean Sea. The park has a peaceful, green setting, while the beach and water are always nearby. During the day, you can simply walk through the dunes to the sea or cool off in the swimming pool. Meanwhile, life takes place among shady paths, the sound of crickets and the scent of pine trees. A place where being outdoors comes naturally and the pace automatically slows down.

Experience roller coasters and water sports
About 2 kilometres away is Cavallino Matto, an amusement park with roller coasters, water attractions and shows. A place where you can easily spend a day. For those who prefer something more relaxed, there are several coastal towns nearby where you can swim, cycle or rent a boat. In San Vincenzo, you will find a harbour and opportunities for water sports. Cecina and Vada are also within reach for a day trip. Here, beaches, small shops and local markets alternate. In the surrounding area, you can also cycle along the coast or head inland. The distances are manageable, allowing you to combine several places in one day.

Walk and cycle along the coast & nature parks
There are several nature reserves along the coast where you can walk and cycle. Rimigliano Nature Park is nearby and runs directly along the sea. Here, you walk among pine trees, dunes and open stretches of beach. Further inland are areas such as Bolgheri and Montioni, with routes through forests and hills. Along the way, you will encounter little development, and nature is what mainly defines the area. The trails are suitable for both short walks and longer excursions. The combination of forest and coast makes it feel different every time. Bring water and wear good shoes, as some routes go gently uphill and downhill.
Relax on the beach along the Tuscan coast
From the campsite, you can walk straight to the beach at Marina di Castagneto Carducci. A wide stretch of coastline with sand, dunes and clear water. A little further on are places such as San Vincenzo and Marina di Bibbona, where you can stroll along the promenade or settle down at a terrace. During the day, alternate between the beach and the sea, stopping for something to eat or drink along the coast.
Visit the picturesque villages in the area
The area is home to several Tuscan villages, such as Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri. Narrow streets, small squares and views over the hills. In Bolgheri, you enter the village via a long avenue lined with cypresses. Along the way, you will come across wineries and small restaurants serving local dishes. Take your time to wander around and stop somewhere.

The park is beautifully situated in a shaded pine forest directly by the sea, with spacious pitches and a wide sandy beach. Guests appreciate the cleanliness, the friendly animation team, and the restaurants with affordable pizzas. The pool with slides is popular with families. Important points of attention include the persistent ant problem (ant powder is essential), limited wifi reception, missing soap in sanitary facilities, and increased prices since the Sandaya takeover.

Hello
In our view, the campground is in need of a major overhaul. This raises a serious question: How is the campground’s current condition compatible with the standards expected of a 4-star campground?
During our stay, we noticed numerous areas that are clearly showing their age and, in our opinion, no longer meet contemporary standards. … This isn’t about minor issues, but rather structural deficiencies, a lack of investment, and, in some cases, an unsatisfactory response to guests’ concerns.
Restaurant We’d like to highlight the quality of the pizzas and the other dishes. Culinary-wise, we were quite pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately, however, the atmosphere in the restaurant doesn’t live up to this positive impression. Cheap plastic chairs, neon lighting, uneven patio slabs—which sometimes make sitting upright and comfortably a balancing act—as well as the overall lackluster and improvised-looking design do not contribute to a welcoming atmosphere.
Especially at a 4-star campground, we expect not only the quality of the food to be up to par, but also the setting in which it is served.
Mini-market at the campground
The mini-market gives us the impression of a makeshift, haphazardly assembled shack. In our view, the design and presentation do not meet the standards of a high-quality campground.
Added to this are the relatively high product prices. The situation regarding bread sales was particularly disappointing: When we visited the store about 45 minutes after it opened, only one type of bread was still available after a wait of about 20 minutes. Since we would have liked to buy bread the following day, we asked in the afternoon during a quiet moment whether a reservation would be possible. This, too, was denied. We don’t expect an unlimited selection at all hours of the day. However, a reliable supply of basic goods and a certain degree of predictability should be a given for a campground of this size and category.
Deliveries to the Shops
When making deliveries to the shops, suppliers drove through a side entrance into the campground’s guest area. There, the goods were transferred to electric vehicles.
This process repeatedly resulted in noise, dust, and additional emissions in the guest area.
If the goods have to be transferred to electric vehicles anyway, the question arises as to why the delivery vehicles enter the guest area at all. Why can’t the deliveries be transferred at the entrance or at a designated handoff point outside the guest area?
With adjusted logistics, the disruption to guests could likely be significantly reduced. Such a solution would not only improve the guest experience but also provide a clearer structure for internal operations.
Our Overall Conclusion
The points mentioned are only a part of our observations. Further examples could easily be added.
Overall, unfortunately, we do not see a coherent picture. Individual strengths, such as the good cuisine, cannot compensate for the fundamental weaknesses in infrastructure, facilities, organization, and quality of stay.
The beautiful pine forest and the basic conditions in particular could form an excellent foundation for a truly attractive campground. However, in our view, fundamental improvements are necessary to realize this potential.
Our impression is that isolated cosmetic improvements alone will not suffice here. Rather, a comprehensive assessment is needed, along with a clear strategy for how the campground can once again live up to its own quality standards.
We hope that our feedback will be taken seriously and will serve as an opportunity to critically examine the existing shortcomings and implement concrete improvements.this is a translation, click here for the original
Guten Tag

The campground is really well-equipped; it has several dining options—one just before the beach entrance, serving delicious and hearty grilled fish (I had a margarita to go with it), and another behind the reception desk offering pasta, main courses, and pizza (where I had a well-cooked sausage and onion dish), Croissants in the morning are always … available here, and just outside there’s a fruit stand, a butcher shop, and a convenience store (I’m sure I’m forgetting something). The beach is beautiful, and the bar on the sand serves cocktails and drinks—it’s amazing at sunset with those super-cool plastic glasses (the only thing missing is the “din”) filled with rose wine; music and cool lights illuminate the lounge chairs and umbrellas in shades of lilac and blue at dusk. Our campsite was large with two entrances separated by a giant pine tree; restrooms, showers, and dishwashing stations were 50 meters away. The only annoyance was the constant noise from neighboring campsites, but it’s bearable. The heated pool, with various hydromassage jets, was very relaxing; there were plenty of lounge chairs to choose from among the trees—including a beautiful willow—on a green lawn. The sandy beach featured crystal-clear water with a seabed of pebbles and sand.

The campsites are great. The restrooms are two-star quality. Cold water for days on end. No way to get water on the campground. 4–5 stars 🌟—well, maybe not... But everyone there is so nice!

Sandaya Campground
In terms of the facilities, it’s actually a good campground. We decided to spend our vacation here during the off-season. Unfortunately, the entire campground was turned into an “adventure playground” by Swiss families. Loud shouting and running around on the paths—and sometimes right across the campsites—prevented us … from having a relaxing vacation.
Swimming in the pool wasn’t safe because both children and their fathers were jumping into the water from the pool’s edge. This was prohibited according to the signs, and the lifeguard on duty didn’t notice any of it because he was busy on his cell phone. Unfortunately, the advertised massage jets also worked only sporadically.
Our assigned campsite barely let in a ray of sunshine and only limited light filtered through the dense grove of trees. We first had to clear the ground of a layer of pine needles about 5 cm thick so our dog wouldn’t constantly have prickly needles stuck to his rear end.
Sitting outside the RV in the evening with a glass of wine wasn’t possible because the entertainment program was incredibly loud. From 8:00 p.m. until sometimes as late as 11:00 p.m., it was impossible to have a conversation or even watch a TV show—you wouldn’t have been able to understand a thing. However, it is up to the parents or guardians to determine to what extent this noise level, right in front of the stage, is harmful to children’s health.
Some of our neighbors at the campsite even left early. We were unable to do so, however, because we had already had to pay for the planned number of nights upon arrival—since this was considered a reservation.
We searched in vain for water hookups at the campground to fill up our RV. We finally found one outside at the wastewater disposal area. Unfortunately, a padlock was attached to the faucet, so we couldn’t get any water. We had to get water from the dishwashing station. Overall, there wasn’t a single water access point on the entire grounds, as is customary at other campgrounds.
So we ultimately concluded that this type of campground is unsuitable for adults without children.this is a translation, click here for the original
Campingplatz Sandaya
