This campground is pure mass tourism. It’s like a three-star vacation in Mallorca all over again. The sites themselves are large, but access is very difficult—especially for larger vehicles—due to low-hanging trees and others that simply jut out into the road. There’s also a significant dip in the exit at one point due to the topography—it’s … practically designed to make you hit the ground. Even the campground’s little train hits the ground hard there every time it passes through. The approximately 200-meter stretch of road leading up to the campground is even worse. The roots of the large pine trees have completely lifted and destroyed the asphalt there. There’s no way to drive around it. It would be much easier to drive directly on the forest floor. Even though we were driving extremely slowly, we were afraid the RV would tip over. We’ve never experienced anything like this in 13 years of camping—it’s outrageous, even by Italian standards. The hedges between the sites are trimmed very low, so there’s little privacy. There’s actually no water at all—except for the plants. Of course, there’s no wastewater disposal either. Even the water at the wastewater disposal station is locked! You have to ask for the key to the water at the front desk. We’ve never seen that in 13 years of camping, either. The wastewater disposal station is also difficult for larger vehicles because of the untrimmed trees. The campground is absolutely packed, even in September. The bathhouses are rarely clean, which is partly due to the users… When we were there, the campground was almost exclusively filled with Swiss people. Bern must have been on vacation at the time and everyone headed to Tuscany en masse… Lots of kids, teens, and dogs. And even more noise. The kids’ entertainment is so loud and shrill that we’ve never experienced anything like it. There’s nothing but kids’ entertainment. In the main restaurant: glaring lights, plastic chairs, and the kids’ entertainment blaring at full volume.
Supermarket with exorbitant prices. Everything is twice as expensive as usual. The sea itself is beautiful, but the beach is quite crowded. The beach right in front of the campground only has lounge chairs that you have to pay for, even though they belong to the campground. On top of that, the lounge chairs are grubby. Great campground with top-notch facilities! I recommend making a reservation—it’s always fully booked. Direct access to the ocean 🌊 On-site bakery... pizzeria... seafood restaurant... cafes and small shops on site. It was really lovely there! ♥️

Large campground with its pros and cons:
+ Good facilities, including a mini-market, restaurant, beach bar, etc.
+ Easy online booking
+ Friendly staff
+ Beautiful, well-maintained beach with lounge chairs and open areas
+ Dog-friendly
+ Sanitary facilities are fine
+ In the forest, the layout of the campsites is somewhat … irregular, with a mix of mobile homes and campsites

± Varies in terms of sun/shade; the restaurant/reception area is very shady in the middle of the forest, while the area toward the sea is significantly more open and thus sunnier
± The sea view is great at the level of the campground and toward the south, but toward the north there was a warning about debris washed ashore from past storms/heavy rain. Swimming there was not recommended during our stay for health reasons.
± Large campground = long distances, but that didn’t bother us
± Mosquitoes (not the campground’s fault)

- We found the path lanterns very glaring
- We had imagined the trip into the town of Donoratico for shopping would be easier. We had to cross a relatively large/high bridge on the country road with our bikes. It worked out, but we wouldn’t do it with kids, for example, and it kept us from visiting other towns. It makes sense to take a car for shopping. Read more Show less
