Camping Bella Italia

We went camping for two weeks with our three kids. We had a wonderful vacation. The lake is amazing, the food at the restaurant is delicious, and the service is friendly. The location is great because it’s easy to get to the nicest little towns.

Upon arrival, we had to hand over all our ID cards at check-in; they were placed in a plastic bag, and we could pick them up later with a receipt. I found this a bit strange. We were able to choose our own spot, which was fine in itself, but when the campground is full, it’s not easy to find an open spot. The sites are reasonably spacious. There’s plenty for kids to do; they had a great time. The campground is enormous but logically laid out with street signs.

What was a huge disappointment for us were the restroom facilities. They look nice and modern. But when it comes to hygiene and cleaning, I can’t say anything other than gross! They clean with a garden hose—they just hose everything down and leave everything wet. I was standing in a stall once, and someone just sprayed the hose right over my feet. Trash cans aren’t emptied regularly, the shower smells like a sewer, and I found various things in the shower, such as a used tampon, hair, toilets with paper on them, broken stall locks, a leaky swan-neck faucet that causes water to flow all over your feet again, and a clogged sink. My partner found toilets where people had smeared feces on the walls. In short, it’s just horribly dirty. I had to wear bath slippers every time I showered. Of course, this is partly due to the people themselves not behaving properly, but the cleaning is really, really bad. You’d almost be afraid of catching something. 🤮🦠

There’s a security guard at every exit👮🏻‍♂️.
At the exit leading to the lake, you’re immediately approached by a dozen women offering to braid your hair for money. On the first day, there was already a commotion, and two women got into a fight, which required the police to intervene. They parked in front of the restaurant’s patio, so we got to enjoy the spectacle firsthand. The kids were really impressed by this. Afterward, a few guests even took photos with the officers.

By the way, the supermarket is great—they have everything and it’s not expensive. There are also a few small shops selling souvenirs and swimwear, as well as a sort of pharmacy.

A word of warning, though: there are regular break-ins at the bungalows. A bike was also stolen right across from us during the day. So keep a very close eye on your belongings and don’t leave anything unattended. Before you know it, it’ll be gone. The staff at the front desk don’t seem too concerned about this and can’t do anything to help you.

When we checked out, they were very keen to make sure we’d paid the tourist tax. They didn’t ask how our stay had been or wish us a safe trip.

In short, we had a good time but won’t be coming back here. The campground is too big and the restrooms are too dirty 🤢

Fabulous location and facilities

Good mocation, great atmosphere and lots of fun activities but with a bit more effort the parc and swimming poolq could be much cleaner. Now swimming pools are filled with dirt and leaves and nobody cares to clean them. Also the stairs to the big slides are filthy. You have to step into the mud before going up the stairs to slide into pool. Also the slides.to the small childrens slides are far from safe and slippery due to ... yes, algues (not clean). The ikea matrasses were worn out and uncomfortable. This parc has a lot of potential with more effort (other management)

My family has stayed at Camping Bella Italia three times, and never in our lives have we experienced anything like what happened today.

At the lake entrance, the security guard known as "Susu" (or a similar name) started shouting aggressively at us because we did not have wristbands. We repeatedly tried to explain that we were not guests ourselves and were simply accompanying our family who were staying at the campsite, but he would not listen and only became more aggressive.

What is completely unacceptable is that he then behaved in an intimidating manner and raised his hand towards me, a woman, forcing my husband to step in and tell him to calm down and put his hand down.

No security employee should ever shout at guests or visitors, intimidate them, or make them feel physically threatened. I have lived in Italy for years and have never been treated with such disrespect.

We decided not to call the police because we did not want to ruin the day any further, but looking back, this incident was serious enough to deserve an official complaint and a full investigation by the police. Someone with this level of aggression should not be responsible for the safety of families.

This experience has completely damaged our view of Camping Bella Italia. A family-friendly campsite should make people feel welcome and safe, not afraid of the person standing at the entrance. Management should take this incident very seriously before something worse happens to someone else.
