During a walk or bike ride, you might come face to face with a flock of sheep—a magical sight, especially during lambing season. The park offers plenty of challenging mountain bike trails and picturesque walking routes. Along the way, you can spot the rare plant species and birds that call this area home. What makes Dwingelderveld so special is its harmonious blend of nature, cultural history, and tranquility. Surrounded by picturesque nature and tranquility, the dolmens are not only historic but also a visual treat. Exploring these areas offers a unique combination of nature, history, and culture. For both families and history enthusiasts, it is a fascinating and educational outing that provides deeper insight into early life in the Netherlands.

We stayed at the Ruinen-Park in a Forest-Lodge 4 during the fall break with two adults and two children (4 & 6). We were very excited because of all the negative reviews about the cleanliness. We can't share the bad reviews in this regard. The cleanliness was great. The only thing we can criticize here is that one of the bed sheets had a small blood stain. However, we were able to tuck it under the mattress, so there was no reason to complain. The park is generally clean, but there is still some garbage in the bushes etc. here and there. The park could pay more attention to this, alternatively visitors could of course behave themselves and dispose of their garbage accordingly... The outdoor pool was closed, so we can't give a rating here. The indoor pool is very small. It's more of a medium-sized pool (1.40m deep) with a slide. The slide was unfortunately only accessible on one day during our stay, the other days it was closed. There was also a waterfall. This was never on. In addition, one of the lights that shines underwater has gone out and was just dangling in the water by its cable. Questionable. The restaurant is great. The food there is great. The prices are "OK". There is plenty of food for the money. Drinks are too expensive. The indoor playground in the restaurant is a blessing. You can practically put the kids in here and they can have fun until the food arrives. This gives mom and dad a bit of peace and quiet :) The petting zoo is a joke. There is just a large pasture with three ponies, a few chickens, goats and pigs. None of these animals can be stroked unless they come up to the fence. Otherwise you can't stroke the animals in the petting zoo. Very disappointing for the kids. There was also supposedly childcare during the vacation season. Unfortunately, we didn't find/see any of this apart from the daily 5pm children's disco. We would have liked to take advantage of more but not even the "kids club" was to be found. It was marked on the park map. When we went there, we only found a storage hall for the park employees. Speaking of employees. They are all very friendly and greet everyone who passes them. Basically, we are satisfied. Perhaps it's a little nicer in the summer than in the fall. But that's not the park's fault and we chose it that way.

We had a glamping. The dog lodge. Dug down in front of the porch by dogs so the step was very high. Especially for a woman of 85! Cobwebs here and there in the cottage. And very noisy even though the neighbors were several feet away, you could hear them clearly. Also, everything about the cottage creaked and squeaked. Beds way too soft. Other than that the kitchen was nicely complete. Very small TV and the stove did a good job. Fine for three nights and very dog friendly but I was happy to go home.

Very nice vacation park if you are looking for peace, space and a nice place for a couple or a family. The cottages are luxurious and the park is spacious. Swimming pool, playground and a bike rental it's all nicely done.
