During a walk or bike ride, you might come face to face with a flock of sheep—a magical sight, especially during lambing season. The park offers plenty of challenging mountain bike trails and picturesque walking routes. Along the way, you can spot the rare plant species and birds that call this area home. What makes Dwingelderveld so special is its harmonious blend of nature, cultural history, and tranquility. A day in history

The dolmens at Havelte and Diever, both just over a fifteen-minute drive away, are impressive prehistoric burial monuments built by the people of the Funnel Beaker culture. Surrounded by picturesque nature and tranquility, the dolmens are not only historic but also a visual treat. Exploring these areas offers a unique combination of nature, history, and culture. For both families and history enthusiasts, it is a fascinating and educational outing that provides deeper insight into early life in the Netherlands.

Duration: 4 days (Sat-Di) Composition: 2 adults 2 ki (7y-11y) Used: swimming pool, adventure golf, air trampoline, indoor playground. Accommodation type: Cube, 6 pers. Had a really wonderful vacation at this wooded, beautiful park!!! Definitely to recommend! Arrival: around 14:00 I was called asking what the expected time of arrival was because the house was already ready to enter! Unfortunately we were still packing, but if you are already in the neighborhood then of course that is super! At check-in we received neat instructions and a delicious snack from a local store in Ruinen with it. So you help the local entrepreneur! Top idea! Never experienced at a park. Accommodation: we stayed in cottage 566 (cube 6p). What a wonderful stay! Very clean!!! Nice furniture, but especially nice sitting chairs and sofa. 2 swivel chairs, lovely!!! Fine beds, slept wonderfully. The shower was also very pleasant. Crockery etc. sufficiently present! Wifi: the wifi did not work in our cottage, but after I reported it on Sunday, the young lady at the reception indicated that someone could come on Monday because on Sundays the technical service is only on call. Now I'm not the most difficult person and I don't find that a problem. Just convenient because it saves nagging children 😂. A tip: it's all about how you bring it/communicate it. It can come across this way that my problem with the wifi is not important. However, a guest is paying for it. Communication is key! 😊 For example, offer to bring a board game as a "wait softener." Parking: plenty of parking close to the cottage. Swimming pool: nice indoor pool! Clear. 1 short but wide slide where you can go down with 3 people side by side. Lots of fun with my kids! And many others besides me. In terms of crowds it was good to do, but in the summer it is nice that there is also an outdoor pool! Tip: sometimes the shower gives hot water and other times not. Good to have a look at. Adventure golf: very nice 18 hole course! Different from the standard past glory courses. Well maintained, nice courses and at the reception I was allowed to pay for the sticks in advance so I could still play after closing time. If I wanted to return them the next morning it was appreciated. Of course you do, but nice to be thought of! Restaurant: just normal prices! Pizzas for about 11-13 euros and really tasty!!! You could also order and pick them up. Besides pizzas they also have burgers, loaded fries and spareribs among other things. Delicious food for normal prices! The desserts were also really tasty. Delicious ice cream and with the stroopwafel coupe not those dried out tough pieces of stroopwafel, but crispy pieces! Between courses we played games lying there. Spent over 2.5 hours and here again friendly staff! Indoor playground: it looked nice, nice to have it there, but it was freezing cold in there! Maybe there was something with the heating, but I hadn't passed that on. Of course I could have done, I'm honest like that. Surroundings: Prison Museum Veenhuizen, 45 minute drive, highly recommended! Read my review there for more info. Assen, nice center, lots of variety of stores! Bookstore van der Velde is really a nice, nice bookstore with lots of choice! Nice and large collection of 2nd hand books! Check also plaza sports Assen! Very nice when the weather is not so nice. Bowling, glow in the dark mini golf, pixel play floor!!! Pixel play is really recommended! Check my review. Conclusion: don't hesitate, just book! There is much more to see and do at the park. Compliments to the staff at the park! The cleaning may also be named! Top!

Top idee! Nog nooit meegemaakt op een park. Accomodatie: we verbleven in huisje 566 (cube 6p). Wat een heerlijk verblijf! Heel schoon!! Communicatie is key! Adventure golf: hele leuke 18 holes baan! Omgeving: Gevangenismuseum Veenhuizen, 45 minuten rijden, aanrader! Lees mijn recensie daar voor meer info. Assen, leuk centrum, veel variatie in winkels! Bowlen, glow in the dark minigolf, pixel play floor!! Pixel play is echt een aanrader! Check mijn recensie. Top!

I highly recommend it. I don't know what the hotel is like in high season, but in January we were practically alone. My two-year-old had a private pool and a private indoor playground 😂 The food was also delicious and affordable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely come back in the summer.
