A beautiful park with a great kids’ program, but significant shortcomings regarding the accommodations and the lake

We spent 10 days in the “Exclusif 6 / Quercus 31b” vacation home during the 2026 summer vacation. Overall, EuroParcs De Zanding is a beautifully situated resort surrounded by nature, though there’s definitely room for improvement in many areas. Since we paid just over €2,500 for the 10 days, our expectations were correspondingly high—unfortunately, we were disappointed in a few key areas.

​What we liked:
• ​Kids & Activities: The activity team was really great and organized a ton of stuff for the kids. The large playground right by the lake is also fantastic.
• ​Access to the neighboring park: A huge plus is that we could also use the neighboring park, “De Wije Werelt.” The indoor playground and the great playground right at the entrance there really saved the vacation for the kids.
• ​Location & Service: A perfect starting point for excursions in Gelderland. The staff at the park were consistently very friendly.
• ​Practical amenities at the park: The park shop has a good selection (even if the prices are a bit higher, as is typical for vacation parks). The laundromat accepts EC card payments with no hassle at all.
• ​Storage space in the house: The master bedroom had a nice, large closet, and the living room had a spacious sideboard.
​What we didn’t like / Negative points:
• ​The swimming lake: The lake was actually our main reason for booking this park. But once we got there, it wasn’t inviting at all: Due to the weather, the water level was extremely low, there was a lot of duck droppings on the shore, and the remaining murky water was full of algae (see photos). We were practically unable to use the lake.
• ​Disappointing indoor pool: The pool at the park is unfortunately very small and offers hardly any fun for children—there are no slides or anything similar.
• ​Condition of the water features: The ponds along the paths and directly in front of the properties would actually be quite pretty if well-maintained, but they look neglected and urgently need to be cleaned (see photo).
• ​Disappointment with the “playground” at the house: We had specifically chosen a house in the immediate vicinity of a playground. However, the “playground” on site consisted of only two rocking animals—unfortunately, that doesn’t deserve to be called a playground.
• ​Mice in the house & poor response: Of course, the park is in the woods, but mice in the house are absolutely unacceptable (see photo). We reported the issue to the front desk three times. The process, however, was extremely slow: The front desk first had to contact an in-house technician, and only then was that technician allowed to call in an exterminator. The long and short of it: The exterminator never even showed up. The technician simply said he’d blocked off an entry point for the mice. It didn’t help at all: That very same evening, we went mouse-hunting ourselves again—unfortunately without success on a total of five evenings; we were “lucky” only once.
• ​Cleanliness & Odor: The cleanliness upon arrival left much to be desired. In addition, there was a consistently musty smell throughout the house—in the closets, the dishwasher, and even while vacuuming. Despite the front door being locked, a noticeable gap remained open at the top left (see photo).
• ​Missing Equipment & Storage: The kitchen lacked basics like a toaster and a corkscrew. There’s hardly any storage space in the bathroom (a simple shelf would help here—see photo). In the kids’ room with the bunk bed, there was neither a closet nor nightstands for the kids.
​Conclusion:
Maybe we’re being a bit critical on some points, but at a price of over 2,500 euros for 10 days, we simply expect a clean, functional house and well-maintained grounds. We therefore wouldn’t recommend this park and wouldn’t book it again ourselves.
