We headed to the Verloren Kost with high expectations. Unfortunately, our stay was quite a disappointment—something I hadn’t expected given all the positive reviews. The tent wasn’t clean; for example, the bathroom had several spots of mold, and the dishes weren’t clean. The second thing that was disappointing was the lack of peace and quiet. We had children screaming and shouting next to and in front of our tent until 9:30 p.m., which made it quite difficult for our 2-year-old daughter to sleep. Of course, I expect children and the noise that comes with them, but not that late in the evening. Finally, I found all the animal enclosures to be run-down and even dirty. The petting barn at the petting zoo was completely dilapidated, and there wasn’t a single animal in sight. All in all, not an experience I’d want to repeat, especially considering what we paid (800 euros for 3 nights) and what we got in return—even during peak season.
