    We had a little cottage right on the water with its own dock. Since I’d read so many bad reviews, I didn’t have high expectations. But I have to say, we really enjoyed it. Our cottage was clean and very nicely furnished. The sandy beach is great for the kids. The croissants are super delicious. We used the bread roll service every day. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet there. We didn’t try the restaurant. We’d definitely come back. The location by the lake was perfect for us. We used the SUPs every day. You could also rent boats right on site. Be sure to book early!

    Wir hatten ein Häuschen direkt am Wasser mit eigenem Steg. Da ich so viele schlechter Bewertungen gelesen hatte, hatte ich keine großen Erwartungen. Aber ich muss sagen, uns hat es sehr gefallen. Unser Haus war sauber und sehr schön eingerichtet. Der Sandstrand ist toll für die Kids. Die Croissants sind superlecker. Den Brötchenservice haben wir jeden Tag genutzt. Uns hat die Ruhe dort sehr gefallen. Das Restaurant haben wir nicht getestet. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen. Die Lage am See war für uns perfekt. Die SUPs waren jeden Tag im Einsatz. Direkt vor Ort konnte man auch Boote ausleihen. Rechtzeitig buchen!

    We strongly advise against booking here, especially if you expect the accommodation to match the photos and description. We stayed in cottage 140.

    Upon arrival, we were immediately very disappointed. The cottage was very outdated and did not match the photos we had seen when booking at all. The difference was so great that we felt misled by the presentation.

    We reported this immediately to the front desk. Since we had booked through Voordeeluitjes, we were referred to them. This is noteworthy, given that both websites use the same photos for the Velthorst 4 cottages. We were instructed to report our findings by email, point by point. We did so.

    When we then took a closer look at the cottage, we also noticed serious hygiene issues, including:
    • stains on the rug;
    • stains on the beds;
    • dirt in the bathroom;
    • a bloodstain on a pillowcase;
    • dirt on the side table;
    • pans that were stuck together in the drawer.
    We included these points in our email to both EuroParcs and Voordeeluitjes.

    After that, unfortunately, we were passed from one department to another. The discussion focused mainly on hygiene, while our original and most important complaint concerned the cottage’s very outdated condition and the significant discrepancy with the photos on the website. The hygiene issues were just on top of that.

    We then conducted our own investigation. We found a Velthorst 4 for sale that, in terms of appearance, does match the photos used to advertise this accommodation. We found the difference between that cottage and ours downright shocking.

    We also find the way our complaint was handled to be very disappointing. We were offered a free dinner at the restaurant as compensation. Due to our personal circumstances, this was not an appropriate solution for us. We are not here on vacation, but due to (personal) circumstances. This was understood, and we were told that the matter would be discussed with the park manager and that we would be called afterward.

    Instead, we had to read in an email that, according to them, our complaint had been “resolved” simply by reimbursing the cleaning costs, because we had allegedly refused the cleaning service and the free meal.

    Furthermore, we find it incomprehensible that our complaint is thus reduced primarily to the issue of cleaning, while the core of our complaint concerns the condition of the cottage and its misleading presentation.

    In hindsight, we’re glad we didn’t take advantage of the restaurant offer. We’ve since read several reviews about the restaurant, and they also highlight a number of negative experiences.

    For us, this was a very disappointing experience. We would absolutely not book here again and strongly advise others to thoroughly research the actual condition of the accommodation and not rely solely on the photos on the website.

    The accommodation did not live up to the expectations raised at the time of booking, and the way our complaint was subsequently handled only reinforced our negative experience. Several reviews also show that we weren’t the only ones complaining about the poor hygiene in the accommodations.

    So if you ask us: don’t book here—look elsewhere! Because the only positive aspect of our experience was the park’s surroundings.

    Bij aankomst waren wij direct zeer teleurgesteld. Het huisje was zeer gedateerd en kwam totaal niet overeen met de foto's die wij bij het boeken hadden gezien. Het verschil was zo groot dat wij ons misleid voelden door de presentatie.

    Wij hebben dit direct bij de receptie gemeld. Omdat wij via Voordeeluitjes hadden geboekt, werden wij verwezen naar Voordeeluitjes. Opmerkelijk, aangezien op beide websites dezelfde foto's worden gebruikt voor de Velthorst 4-huisjes. Wij kregen de instructie om onze bevindingen per e-mail en puntsgewijs te melden. Dat hebben wij gedaan.

    Toen wij daarna het huisje verder bekeken, constateerden wij ook ernstige problemen met de hygiëne, waaronder:
    • vlekken op het vloerkleed;
    • vlekken op de bedden;
    • viezigheden in de badkamer;
    • een bloedvlek op een kussensloop;
    • viezigheid op de bijzettafel;
    • pannen die vastgeplakt in de la lagen.
    Deze punten hebben wij meegenomen in onze e-mail aan zowel EuroParcs als Voordeeluitjes.

    Daarna werden wij helaas van het kastje naar de muur gestuurd. Er werd vooral gesproken over de hygiëne, terwijl onze oorspronkelijke en belangrijkste klacht ging over de zeer gedateerde staat van het huisje en het grote verschil met de foto's op de website. De problemen met de hygiëne kwamen daar nog bovenop.

    Wij zijn vervolgens zelf op onderzoek uitgegaan. Zo zagen wij een Velthorst 4 te koop staan die qua uitstraling wél overeenkomt met de foto's waarmee deze accommodatie wordt aangeboden. Het verschil met ons huisje vonden wij ronduit schokkend.

    Ook de manier waarop met onze klacht is omgegaan, vinden wij zeer teleurstellend. Wij kregen als compensatie een gratis etentje in het restaurant aangeboden. Door onze persoonlijke omstandigheden was dit voor ons geen passende oplossing. Wij zijn hier namelijk niet voor vakantie, maar vanwege (privé)omstandigheden. Dit werd begrepen en ons werd verteld dat overleg met de parkmanager zou plaatsvinden en dat wij daarna gebeld zouden worden.

    In plaats daarvan moesten wij via de e-mail lezen dat onze klacht volgens hen werd "opgelost" door alleen de schoonmaakkosten te vergoeden, omdat wij de schoonmaak en het gratis eten zouden hebben geweigerd.

    Wij vinden het bovendien onbegrijpelijk dat onze klacht hierdoor voornamelijk wordt teruggebracht tot schoonmaak, terwijl de kern van onze klacht de staat van het huisje en de misleidende presentatie ervan betreft.

    Achteraf zijn wij blij dat wij geen gebruik hebben gemaakt van het restaurantaanbod. We hebben inmiddels verschillende reviews over het restaurant gelezen en ook daar komen de nodige negatieve ervaringen naar voren.

    Voor ons was dit een zeer teleurstellende ervaring. Wij zouden hier absoluut niet opnieuw boeken en raden anderen dringend aan om goed onderzoek te doen naar de daadwerkelijke staat van de accommodatie en niet uitsluitend af te gaan op de foto's op de website.

    De accommodatie voldeed niet aan de verwachtingen die bij het boeken werden gewekt en de manier waarop onze klacht vervolgens is behandeld, heeft onze negatieve ervaring alleen maar versterkt. Ook uit verschillende reviews blijkt dat wij niet de enige waren die klagen over de slechte hygiëne in de accommodaties.

    Dus als je het ons vraagt: boek hier niet en kijk verder! Want het enige positieve aan onze ervaring is de omgeving waarin het park staat.

    Beautiful park, clean, well-organized, nice little beach with clear water (be sure to bring water shoes because of the sharp rocks and shells), the cottages were clean and modern. Free Wi-Fi. We’ll definitely be back.
