Coziness in De Koog
Just a few minutes' walk from the campsite lies De Koog, the most popular seaside resort of Texel. In this charming village you will find atmospheric terraces, nice shops, boutiques, and a wide range of restaurants. During the day, you can enjoy strolling around or having an ice cream on the boulevard-like Dorpsstraat. In the evening, De Koog buzzes with conviviality and you can enjoy dinner, a drink, or live music. This campsite is beautifully located in the dunes, directly by the beach and within walking distance of the village De Koog. Guests appreciate the unique location and the privacy offered by the dune pitches. Sanitary facilities are cleaned regularly and well distributed across the site. Staff are often described as friendly and helpful. However, there are some concerns: the price is considered high, the parking area is often full, and some sanitary buildings are dated and can be busy during high season.

I think it's a nice campground if you like camping—it's definitely in an ideal location, just a short walk to the ocean. It's nice that the sites aren't crammed together; there are little hidden nooks, so you have plenty of privacy.

A warm welcome. We had a beautiful spot in the dunes. The shower facilities were nice and clean and well-spaced throughout the campground, so there was always one nearby. Within walking distance of the village and some nice beach pavilions.

Vriendelijke ontvangst.

Overall, the campground is beautifully located and has a lot to offer families. The campsites are neat and the atmosphere is pleasant. However, there are also a few areas that, in our opinion, could be significantly improved.
What we really missed was a small supermarket on the campground, like the ones found at many Dutch campgrounds. Unfortunately, you can’t get fresh rolls or other small items at reasonable prices here. Instead, there’s only the bistro. There, every roll costs €1.50, regardless of the type. The other prices are also quite high: a can of soda costs about €3, and a simple popsicle also costs around €3. The food itself is okay, but on the pricey side.
Another downside is the restroom facilities. They’re clearly showing their age and are often dirty, especially on weekends. You do see cleaning staff once or twice a day, and things are clean afterward. In my opinion, however, this isn’t enough given the number of guests, since the restrooms are already heavily soiled again by noon. Some of the waste bins in the restrooms were so overflowing that you had to force hygiene items into them.
The biggest point of criticism, however, is the indoor play area. The climbing frame is really great and offers children a fun activity when the weather is bad. Unfortunately, it apparently wasn’t cleaned even once during our entire stay (10 days). Starting on the very first day, there was hair, lint, leaves, pens, and other debris scattered everywhere. The restrooms in this area were also in very varying conditions. I took photos of the changing table and changing pad—they were anything but hygienic. Anyone traveling with a baby or toddler should keep this in mind.
It’s particularly disappointing that we pointed out these issues to the front desk as early as the second day of our stay. Unfortunately, nothing had changed by the time we left. Especially with a problem concerning cleanliness and hygiene, we would have liked to see a prompt response.
It’s a shame, because with a little more attention to cleanliness and hygiene, the campground could really be impressive. As it stands, however, we’re unfortunately left with a rather poor overall impression.this is a translation, click here for the original
