Fan out at the Texel lighthouse
The Texel Lighthouse, located near De Cocksdorp, offers you a fascinating experience with a mix of history and breathtaking views. After climbing the 153 steps, the top reveals a panoramic view of the North Sea, Wadden Sea and the Texel landscape. The adjacent visitor center tells the story of this iconic lighthouse, which has been watching over shipping since 1864. This small-scale, modern park is praised for its sleek, clean chalets that opened just eighteen months ago. The central location on Texel makes it an ideal base — guests can reach anywhere on the island within a 10-minute drive. Friendly and helpful staff contribute to a warm welcome, and amenities like hot tubs are appreciated by many guests. At the same time, there are areas for improvement: the chalets are close together which limits privacy, several guests complain about hard and narrow beds, and the location next to a busy road causes noise disturbance for some.

We stayed in a Duinvilla. But the villa isn’t actually located in the dunes—it’s right next to a children’s playground. If you don’t have kids, it’s totally annoying.
Unfortunately, the hot tub wasn’t as clean as we’d expected. There were tons of long, light-colored hairs in it, even though it had just been refilled. And I myself have long, … dark hair. It would be nice if the bedrooms had fly screens, given the price of the houses. You also can’t check in until 4 p.m. on the day of arrival. I don’t know how the resort can charge the full price under those circumstances. We paid an additional 35€ for early check-in. One of the bed sheets had stains that hadn’t come out in the wash. I wouldn’t come back here again. All the houses are close together, there are no fences, and there’s hardly any privacy. Plus, there’s a bunch of hidden extra costs that are unnecessary. On top of that, there’s a long list of things to take care of before checkout, which, by the way, has to be done by 10 a.m. (very early?).
Too bad—I expected more for that price.this is a translation, click here for the original

There were four of us staying there for three nights. The location is great, and the house was very nice. We’ll be back. Unfortunately, one of the bedrooms wasn’t cleaned properly, so there was still dirt in the corners. But other than that, everything was very nice and in order.
