Kustpark Texel

After reading some horror reviews, we were a bit wary, but people are more likely to post a review if they’re dissatisfied.

On top of that, this park really isn’t expensive. So you shouldn’t expect ultra-deluxe, brand-new accommodations. Sure, there’s a certain standard, but for this price, our cottage and the park’s facilities were really … just fine.

We arrived on a rainy evening after dark. Everything looks a bit gloomier then. But it turned out to be much better than we expected. The directions were clear, and we used a code in the app to access our cottage.

We had a 4-person “comfort” cottage. It was really spacious! Lightly decorated with cute photo wallpaper and a kitchen equipped with all the conveniences, including a combination microwave and a dishwasher. Great.

We’d chosen cottage 125 because it was right next to a small playground. However, it turned out there was a moisture problem in one of the rooms. You could smell the musty air—we couldn’t sleep there. So the first night, we laid out the mattress toppers in the living room and slept there. It was really comfortable thanks to the thick mattresses. We could have easily spent the whole vacation there. But anyway, you pay for a certain standard, so we called the front desk anyway.

We called the front desk in the morning. First, they sent a housekeeper, but she didn’t do much about it. We called back, and then they said they’d discuss it. Eventually, over an hour later, they called back to say we’d be getting a new cottage, number 57. And that during fall break!! It took a lot of back-and-forth, but they handled it perfectly.

They even offered to help us move our stuff.

Cottage 57 was all the way at the back of the park, but it was in a great sunny spot, so there was plenty of light inside. Absolutely fantastic! And a parking spot practically right outside the door. It was a dog-friendly cottage, but I didn’t see any dog hair or anything like that. It was really clean. We really enjoyed it.

The cottage does have some moisture issues—the shower had a few spots of mold, and moisture was dripping from the windows in the morning—but otherwise, the cottage smelled fresh. We didn’t think it was a big deal. Leaving the window open after showering also helps prevent moisture problems. The shower exhaust fan wasn’t working, after all.

The service is top-notch; everyone is friendly.

Facilities in the cottage:
- dishwasher
- combination microwave with many settings for oven and grill
- Senseo coffee maker
- smart TV so you can enjoy watching your favorite shows via Videoland or Netflix, etc. As well as a standard TV package.
- a space heater that heats up quickly and warms the cottage.

It was very dark in the park when we were walking there in the evening; we had to park the car elsewhere and could hardly find our way back to the cottage. There should be more signs that are easier to read; the paths are also poorly lit.
Otherwise, the park’s location is good. Everything is close by, and there’s plenty to do on the island.
The cottage was fine otherwise.

Landal Kustpark Texel is a very beautiful park; everything is well-designed, from the layout of the reception area to the chalets. The park is easy to navigate, and parking is convenient. The staff is super friendly and will help you whenever needed. The little restaurant/ café lounge is decent—we had hoped there would be some regular tables to … sit at, because right now it feels more like a café than a restaurant

We stayed in a chalet for a week Mon-Fri
. Overall, the chalet is neat and reasonably well-cleaned; everything works. The only points of criticism we have are that the window frames are starting to crumble, the windows could be cleaned a bit better, and the window mechanisms aren’t quite up to par—they could be improved. Everything was easy to find, but in the pantry, we found two bags of bread—either left behind by other guests or not cleaned up properly

These are our criticisms regarding the park
- Transporting belongings and bags to the cottage: there were some carts, but not enough; it would be nice if something could be done about that
- And what we noticed is that if you want to go from your chalet to, say, the small supermarket, you have to walk quite a distance to get there because the chalet area is quite a bit farther away than the reception/ supermarket. It might be handy to perhaps set up a small park-owned supermarket in that part of the Chalet Park.

Overall, we think the park is beautiful; you can easily get everywhere from the park, and the park’s location is great! It’s fine for a week, but in our opinion, if you’re planning to stay here for two weeks, we wouldn’t really recommend it. Read more Show less

We had a wonderful vacation at Kust Park Texel. Our chalet was neat and clean, and it had everything we needed. We’d love to come back anytime. This was our second vacation here.
