Luxury camping at Landal Park Wide Nes by the Markermeer

Park Wide Nes is located at the foot of the West Frisian Ring Dike, the oldest dike in the Netherlands, which separates the park from the Markermeer. It is a car-free, small-scale park that takes sustainability seriously: no gas connection, but solar panels. From the accommodations, you look out over the polders or the dike. At the park, you can rent a bicycle to explore the area: over the dike to Hoorn or Enkhuizen, or back through the polder. Golfers will find an 18-hole golf course with a driving range nearby. There is a playground for children. The Grab & Go at the park serves coffee, freshly made sandwiches and soup, and you can also order a complete gourmet or BBQ package. The Markermeer offers plenty of space for kitesurfing and sailing. The region features bulb fields, traditional bell-shaped farmhouses, windmills and historic towns such as Enkhuizen and Hoorn. Radboud Castle, a short distance away, takes you back to the Middle Ages.

Water fun at the Markermeer

Wijdenes Park is located directly on the Markermeer, an ideal destination for lovers of water, nature and tranquillity. Here, you can enjoy swimming, paddleboarding, sailing, kayaking or taking a relaxing walk along the dyke with views over the water. Anglers will also find plenty of opportunities along the lake's shores. Atmospheric harbour towns such as Hoorn, Enkhuizen and Medemblik are nearby, where you can enjoy historic streets, cosy terraces and marinas. Thanks to its combination of water recreation, nature and characteristic villages, the Markermeer is a wonderful place for a varied holiday.

Discover Hoorn's historic centre

Hoorn was once one of the most powerful trading cities of the Dutch Republic, and this is still visible in its city centre. Walk past historic ships in the harbour, enjoy a drink on a terrace at the Roode Steen, and then explore the narrow streets. Along the way, stories of the VOC era, which began here, can be found on façades and street signs. After your walk, choose one of the restaurants for a late lunch or an early dinner.

Walk along the West Frisian Circular Dyke

Three walking routes start almost directly from the village of Wijdenes: along the Markermeer, through historic village streets and over the West Frisian Circular Dyke. Along the way, you will pass traditional pyramid-roof farmhouses, windmills and expansive polders stretching as far as the eye can see. The routes are well signposted and connect with one another, allowing you to decide the length yourself. Please note: dogs are not permitted on these routes.

Visit Enkhuizen by bicycle or boat

Enkhuizen is a former VOC city that has largely retained its seventeenth-century character. Within the old ramparts, you will find dozens of national monuments and street names that directly recall the trading era. Stroll past unique shops, visit a museum or find a terrace by the harbour. If you come by bicycle, you will ride along the dyke with views over the IJsselmeer. If you come by boat, you can moor in the historic harbour itself.

Summary created out of 107 reviews

Park 2403 is located directly on the Markermeer and the dike, in a quiet setting perfect for those seeking relaxation. Guests appreciate the modern, clean lodges and the natural surroundings with meadows and sheep. The location is ideal for cycling and walking, with towns like Hoorn and Enkhuizen nearby. Points of attention include mosquitoes due to the proximity of water and canals, the lack of fly screens, and heat in the lodges during summer without air conditioning. Some guests miss more service and facilities, and mention noise from motorized traffic on the dike.

    The vacation home was great.
We had a 4-person cottage with two bathrooms.
The park itself was neat, but other than that, it was nothing more than a reception area with a small shop.
But we knew that going in.
The cottage was clean and smelled nice and fresh.
    Everything worked and was there.

    Vakantie huis was super.

The cottages and the park are even more beautiful than they appear in the photos. From the cottage, you have a view of the meadows and the beautiful sunset; the cottage has tall windows, so you can enjoy nature from inside as well. Beautiful.

Prachtig.

We stayed at the park for a week. The park is beautiful, and the rooms are modern. The beds were great, and the location is lovely, tooβ€”right on the dike and the Markermeer.
Unfortunately, it was very hot inside the lodgeβ€”at times up to 30 degrees, even at night. Since I’d read the reviews beforehand, I brought a fan with me. Without it, it would have been unbearable. Unfortunately, all the bedrooms only have doors and no windows, so airing out the room wasn’t ideal, since I don’t like sleeping with the door open.
Not really suitable for the hot summerβ€”more for cooler days.
Otherwise, we had a wonderful time.
Sure, there are mosquitoes and flies. But we took care of them in the evenings πŸ˜…

We stayed with two dogs in a 6-person lodge (House No. 1β€”ideal because it’s close to the exit, the sea, the shop, and the front desk, and the terrace is screened by a hedge). Modern, air-conditioned, large garden, great amenities, spacious, clean.
Quiet, yet close to great cities (Amsterdam, Alkmaar, Hoorn). Hoorn now has the largest city beach in the Netherlands. Children’s playground, outdoor gym, dog beach, places to eat. Very nice.

Very nice park, houses, and surroundings.
    Unfortunately, there’s no sandy beach.
Small coves with crushed shellsβ€”not meant for walking barefoot. It’s not ideal for kids who want to dig in the sand.
Nothing against dogs, but there are barking dogs in every house. There’s construction behind the house… you can hear excavators and trucks all day long.
You can’t even go out for a drink in the evening because there’s nowhere to go.

    Sehr schΓΆner Park,HΓ€user,Umgebung.
