Beerze Bulten

If our 3-year-old son could have written a review, he would definitely have given it 5 stars across the board. He really enjoyed this vacation! We stayed for a week, and the campground is really beautiful. There’s a fun indoor playground, the pool is great, and the entertainment program is very well organized. The staff is friendly, and even after a few issues, they handled everything smoothly and resolved the problems.

We were on a site with an oak tree. I think this spot is almost never occupied, except during peak season. The site was still very dirty, and there were cigarette butts left behind by the previous guest. The site was also completely covered with pinecones and acorns, which I think were left over from last year. It would have been nice if these had been cleared away with a leaf blower before our arrival, especially since the other sites were clean. There were also stinging nettles and a blackberry bush around the water outlet and faucet. The kids got stung a few times.

I also found the pool to be very crowded. It was packed with people. It was impossible to swim or just float quietly in the pool without bumping into someone every three seconds. Fortunately, the kiddie pool was a bit quieter for the little ones. We didn’t use any lounge chairs the entire vacation—there’s a real shortage of them, or you have to reserve your spot first thing in the morning.

I was also very disappointed with the restrooms. The toilets were often dirty, especially the women’s ones (from what I’ve heard). There was often a line to use the restroom, a line to wash dishes, and a line for the washing machines, which also broke down frequently.

Other than that, we had a really nice vacation. If we’d been at a different location, we might have enjoyed it even more.

It was our first time at Beerze Bulten, and what a blast it was!! We had a “comfort” site, so we brought our own tent—a beautiful field with plenty of space between the tents, and a fun little playground for our daughter (4.5 years old) right outside our door!

The GigaKonijnen play area was also a huge hit. Our daughter had a little trouble playing there on her own at first, but after a few visits, we were able to relax outside while she had a blast playing inside or outside in Bultjes Tuin!

Not to mention the water park, which is also absolutely fantastic for both older kids and the littlest ones. It gets pretty crowded on hot days, but that’s just part of the high season and the nice weather.

Then there’s the highlight of Beerze Bulten: the entertainment team! They’ve got everything organized down to the last detail with a well-designed app where you can keep track of all the activities and see exactly when and where a show is taking place. By the way, the shows are absolutely fantastic; the smaller ones, like “Beerza’s Babbelkrant” or “Eefje’s World,” are a huge hit with the youngest kids. But the bigger shows, such as “Bultje’s Welcome Show” or the musical “Fonkel Flip,” were top-notch and fun for all ages!

Our daughter is a huge fan of all the characters—Bultje, Bibi, and Albert—but Gijs, Beerza, Mien, and of course Eefje were also among her top favorites.

Of course, there are a few minor quibbles, because nothing is perfect. The food in the restaurant is decent—don’t expect top-notch cuisine in terms of value for money, though; it’s just barely adequate. Bultje’s Dining Room, on the other hand, is definitely satisfactory

It was also very crowded during the bigger shows (which makes sense during peak season), though we did sometimes have our doubts about fire safety in the outdoor theater when it’s so packed.

So if you’re coming here with either a tent or a RV and you have young children under the age of 12—and I’d say as young as 2—then this will be the vacation of their (and your) lives!!
