Forest Lodge - 5 persons

At a campground that costs 800 euros a week, limiting shower time to 7 minutes in the fall and winter—and then shutting it off for 5 minutes when you obviously need more time with your young children—is a joke. Once and never again...

We just visited this 5️⃣-star campground for the first time during fall break
It was recommended to us several times
We stayed a total of 7 days at site 428 in the dog-friendly area
We’re thrilled 🤩
It’s a great spot for families with kids
There’s plenty on offer for the kids
An indoor playground, indoor pool, large water … playground,soccer field, and a daily entertainment program that can be booked via their own app
There’s a restaurant and a snack bar on the grounds
The restrooms were consistently clean during our stay
The free Wi-Fi worked great
The campsites are plenty big
Everything is very well-maintained and clean
The access roads to the campsites are a bit narrow
The prices for bread rolls in the shop are ridiculously expensive (€1 for a regular roll)🫣
Even though we booked an additional 6 amps of power at the site, the fuse blew several times

Nice campground, plenty to do for the kids

We had a really great week at the campground. Beautiful park; we saw lots of squirrels. It had a really nice fall atmosphere with lots of pumpkins as decorations and string lights. There’s a swimming pool, the “Giga Rabbit Hole,” and an amazing playground by a small lake. It’s a paradise for kids.

A few points of criticism as to why we … don’t rate it 5 stars.

- The “Bibi” restroom building isn’t very comfortable. The lighting is motion-activated, but when you’re doing the dishes or even using the restroom, the light turns off pretty quickly. So you have to keep moving, otherwise the light goes out after a minute😆. In the restrooms, there are only 2 sinks with mirrors for brushing your teeth. That’s very few. Shower stalls with sinks but no electrical outlets. The family shower timer is set for 7 minutes. Sorry, but that’s really way too short to shower yourself and the kids!

- The front desk is staffed by a young team. Maybe a little too young—they came across as unprofessional, and it felt like there were only interns working there. Check-in was a total letdown. “Hi, here’s your site number, parking pass, and token for the gate. Have a nice stay.” Okay, so is the park car-free? Can I get a map? Could you briefly explain the basics? What’s the best way to drive to my spot? Answer: “Have you downloaded the app?” Not very personal—a missed opportunity.

- Small supermarket, open from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Really terrible. In the morning, you can get fresh rolls, but you have to be quick because the baguettes are sold out by 8:30 a.m. If you’re cooking dinner in the evening and still need something, you’ll first have to walk to the parking lot and then drive toward Ommen. The park is a bit “out of the way,” so for a 5-star place, I’d expect the grocery store to stay open a little longer. The staff consists of young women who aren’t all equally motivated or friendly.
