Heuvel Lodge - 4 persons

We had a really great week at the campground. Beautiful park; we saw lots of squirrels. It had a really nice fall atmosphere with lots of pumpkins as decorations and string lights. There’s a swimming pool, the “Giga Rabbit Hole,” and an amazing playground by a small lake. It’s a paradise for kids.

A few points of criticism as to why we … don’t rate it 5 stars.

- The “Bibi” restroom building isn’t very comfortable. The lighting is motion-activated, but when you’re doing the dishes or even using the restroom, the light turns off pretty quickly. So you have to keep moving, otherwise the light goes out after a minute😆. In the restrooms, there are only 2 sinks with mirrors for brushing your teeth. That’s very few. Shower stalls with sinks but no electrical outlets. The family shower timer is set for 7 minutes. Sorry, but that’s really way too short to shower yourself and the kids!

- The front desk is staffed by a young team. Maybe a little too young—they came across as unprofessional, and it felt like there were only interns working there. Check-in was a total letdown. “Hi, here’s your site number, parking pass, and token for the gate. Have a nice stay.” Okay, so is the park car-free? Can I get a map? Could you briefly explain the basics? What’s the best way to drive to my spot? Answer: “Have you downloaded the app?” Not very personal—a missed opportunity.

- Small supermarket, open from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Really terrible. In the morning, you can get fresh rolls, but you have to be quick because the baguettes are sold out by 8:30 a.m. If you’re cooking dinner in the evening and still need something, you’ll first have to walk to the parking lot and then drive toward Ommen. The park is a bit “out of the way,” so for a 5-star place, I’d expect the grocery store to stay open a little longer. The staff consists of young women who aren’t all equally motivated or friendly. A huge, massive vacation resort—the brasserie's value for money, quantity, and service were top-notch; the food looked good, was cooked just right, and was beautifully presented, and so on.

A fantastic campground for families—but unfortunately a huge disappointment when it comes to the expensive rental accommodations (Wikkelhouse)!
First off: For children and families, the Beerze Bulten campground is an absolute dream in terms of scenery and recreational opportunities. The wooded surroundings are beautiful, and the activities for … the little ones are virtually endless: There are countless small playgrounds scattered throughout the campground, as well as a gigantic outdoor playground that includes a water play area. You can rent canoes or simply enjoy nature.
The indoor offerings also leave nothing to be desired:
Indoor Play Area & Entertainment: The indoor play paradise is ingeniously designed for all ages. There’s also children’s theater, a kids’ disco, bowling, and mini-golf.
Swimming Pool: Admission to the swimming pool is included at no extra cost—perfect for rainy days.
For Adults: Those seeking relaxation will find everything they need in the wellness area, sauna, and salt cave.
Restroom Facilities: Absolutely exemplary! The general restroom facilities on the campground were incredibly clean and extremely well-maintained.
About the rental accommodation: The Wikkelhouse (A major disappointment given the nearly four-digit price)
Since we traveled without a camper, we opted for the modern and visually very stylish “Wikkelhouse.” Upon check-in, we received a small welcome kit (garbage bag, sponge, cloth, dish soap, matches—though hand soap was missing). What awaited us on site, given the nearly four-digit rental price, was simply outrageous:
Cleanliness & Hygiene: The accommodation was absolutely filthy upon our arrival and had clearly not been cleaned. There were cobwebs everywhere, and thick dust bunnies were scattered about. The glasses in the cupboard were dirty, and the cooking utensils were so disgustingly grimy that they were unusable. There were no towels or kitchen towels provided.
Moldy Air Conditioner: The air conditioner is in urgent need of maintenance—the vent/diffuser is moldy, and when turned on, an unpleasant, musty odor spread throughout the room.
Fly Screens & Ventilation: The windows could barely be opened properly because the fly screens—which were already in poor condition—were either leaky or simply broken.
Kitchen: The frying pan provided was so severely warped at the bottom that it didn’t make proper contact with the induction cooktop and was unusable.
Space & Beds: The house is listed as accommodating 4 people—realistically, we recommend it for a maximum of 2 people plus one older child. The lower bed was very uncomfortable. The upper bed is located on a second level that’s extremely high up: far too dangerous/high for small children, and even adults have a hard time climbing up safely.
Conclusion:
The park itself, the recreational activities, and the general restroom facilities are top-notch—as campers, we would definitely give this campground another chance. But we absolutely cannot recommend the rental accommodation at this extremely high price and in this state of dirtiness (as well as the way it was handled on-site)! Read more Show less
