Urk is a 30-minute drive from the campground and is a historic fishing village. Urk has a rich history dating back to the 10th century. Its picturesque harbor and traditional Dutch architecture makes Urk well worth a visit. Stroll through the narrow streets and alleys with colorful houses and explore the charming cafes. There are also several historic buildings, including the lighthouse and the old church, which dates back to the 14th century.

A few hundred meters from the campground is the picturesque Zuiderzee town of Blokzijl, which was founded in the late 16th century. Many buildings have been preserved over the centuries, giving the town a charming character. Built around a spacious harbor basin, Blokzijl is characterized by its lively monumental merchant houses. Visit Blokzijl's Grote Kerk, built in 1613, and walk past the lock, where some 20,000 ships pass through each year, and the magnificent harbor. Continue walking through the town's narrow streets and alleys, with historic buildings and charming stores and cafes. The city also has several museums and galleries, including the museum Het Gildenhuys, which shows the history of trade in the city.

The campsite is located in the middle of Nature Park De Weerribben, a beautiful and unique nature reserve dominated by water and reeds. Together with the neighboring nature reserve De Wieden, it forms the largest contiguous fen area in northwestern Europe. With about 15,000 hectares of nature reserve and 400 km of waterway, it offers a beautiful and peaceful view with many lakes, pools and small islands. The reed beds provide habitat for many bird species, including the rare bittern, while the open water is home to fish such as pike and perch. Explore the Weerribben by boat, on foot or by bicycle. There are numerous hiking and biking trails that let you experience the beauty and tranquility of the area up close.
