Summary created out of 253 reviews

EuroParcs De IJssel Eilanden is beautifully situated on the water near Kampen, offering modern accommodations with private jetties. Guests particularly appreciate the peaceful, nature-rich location and proximity to charming towns like Kampen and Zwolle. The staff is often described as friendly and helpful, and the renovated restaurant receives positive feedback. However, there are substantial complaints about cleanliness upon arrival: guests report dirty floors, dusty furniture, unwashed dishes, and even traces of vermin. Maintenance also falls short, with broken appliances, faulty door handles, and leaks. Additionally, the absence of fly screens allows mosquitoes inside, some houses without air conditioning become uncomfortably hot, and there are issues with billing and communication.

Unfortunately, the cleanliness, in particular, is really poor. The location is convenient. There are plenty of activities and plenty of space here.

If it were possible, I’d give it zero stars.

We stayed in cottage 639 from July 6 to July 8, 2026. Since we’d already visited the park shortly after it opened and were absolutely thrilled at the time, I wanted to surprise my husband for his birthday. Unfortunately, the surprise turned out to be more of a disaster.

We actually left after just one night—I even left in tears. Nothing like this has ever happened to us in all our years of vacationing.

The “adventure” began with the grill plate. According to the website, it was supposed to be delivered the same day. Once we got there, we found out that we should have ordered it by 1 p.m. two days earlier. Too bad, but no problem—or so we thought. So we bought some meat for the grill and unpacked the grill that was already there. Once we opened it, though, it was clear: it seemed like every previous renter had left their mark on the grill. Apparently, the final cleaning was part of the guests’ entertainment program. In any case, our appetite for grilled meat vanished instantly.

So off to the restaurant we went. On the plus side: the beer was cold. On the downside: the steak and the schnitzel were probably on vacation too. There’s hardly any other way to explain the quality.

The next day, the rented boat was supposed to be the highlight. The promotional videos show sleek, sturdy boats with a steering wheel. Instead, we got a boat that handled like a shopping bag in a storm. No matter how we moved the tiller—the boat consistently did its own thing. We couldn’t even get properly away from the dock. A replacement boat? No such luck. Apparently, all the others were already rented out or broken. At least we were promised a refund via email. Only the money, it seems, is still out there somewhere on the lake to this day.

The vacation home also had its own unique “highlights”: On the patio and dock, we were greeted by numerous cigarette butts left by the previous guests. Traces of past vacations were still stuck to the tables and inside the oven. The faucet in the bathroom didn’t work, so you had to take a little trip to the second bathroom just to wash your hands. The mosquito screen on the patio door was also broken—the mosquitoes probably thought that was great.

And for anyone looking forward to fishing right by the house: Good luck catching water plants. They’re sure to bite.

Bottom line: What was supposed to be a birthday surprise unfortunately turned into the worst short vacation we’ve ever had. It’s especially sad that we remembered the park from before as being completely different. This time, we felt like the advertising and reality described two entirely different vacation destinations.

What a shame—we would have preferred to go home with fond memories rather than with a story we might someday be able to laugh about.

Also ab ins Restaurant.

A very disappointing stay and absolutely no response from EuroParcs

I don’t usually write negative reviews, but the way EuroParcs has handled our complaint unfortunately leaves me no other choice.

We stayed in cottage 626 at Hackfort 6 at the end of June. Upon arrival, we found that the accommodation was, unfortunately, far below our expectations. Several pans were completely scorched, and we had to clean them ourselves before we could use them. In addition, there was a very pungent smell of sweat coming from the couch. We reported this immediately to the front desk the next morning.

The cleaning staff came by and acknowledged that they could clearly smell the odor as well. Unfortunately, the situation only got worse after that: due to the steam cleaning, the couch was unusable for the rest of the day, and the odor was not resolved. With five people, this meant we couldn’t use the living room normally. It also turned out that the outdoor table was broken.

Because of these issues, we were unable to enjoy our vacation as one would expect, and we ultimately left a day early.

When checking out, we asked what EuroParcs could do about this. We were told that the complaint had to be submitted by email. We did so, but despite contacting them multiple times (even by phone this week), we still haven’t received any substantive response or update. The complaint is reportedly with headquarters, but other than that, there has been no further communication.

We find this very unfortunate, because the park itself is beautiful. That is precisely why it is especially disappointing that the condition of the accommodation and, above all, the lack of communication from EuroParcs had such a negative impact on our stay.

We are still hoping for appropriate compensation and, above all, a serious response from EuroParcs.
