We spent 2.5 weeks here with our 5-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son and had a truly fantastic vacation.

We stayed in a FarmCamps tent with a private toilet, kitchen, shower, bathtub, and air conditioning. We were particularly impressed with the quality of the accommodations. The tent is spacious, the furniture is good quality and sturdy, and there’s plenty of room around the tent as well. To me, everything looked pretty new, but I think that’s mainly because everything is just very well maintained. The campground itself is also completely car-free, which is incredibly nice with young children.

The campground is very small-scale, with only about ten tents, and we actually found that to be a big plus. There’s actually a surprising amount to do. There are tons of go-karts in all sorts of sizes, from push cars and small tractors to ones that even mom and dad can ride. There’s also a fun sandbox with toys and a hayloft where the kids can climb, swing, and play.

Since there are many families with young children, new friends were constantly being made. It’s precisely because of the small scale that such a pleasant atmosphere develops. People keep an eye on each other and each other’s children, without being intrusive. This made it feel cozy, friendly, and safe. The only downside to staying for 2.5 weeks while many other families stay for just one week is that our daughter had to say goodbye to her new friends several times.

The owners and staff are also truly wonderful. The farm owner is often around and takes care of everything, while her son also handles all sorts of practical matters behind the scenes, such as delivering and picking up linens. If there’s anything you need, just let them know and they’ll take care of it.

There’s also a small, convenient store. It’s not meant for your weekly grocery shopping, but it’s very handy for anything you’d rather not drive to the supermarket for again. Think coffee, tea, ice cream, pancake mix, syrup, powdered sugar, barbecue charcoal, firewood, and chilled cans of soda. Plus, there was pizza night twice a week. You can order pizza, which they make themselves and then deliver right to your tent. Ideal.

Another thing I was personally very happy about: virtually no mosquitoes. There are some flies and the occasional biting fly, but even that wasn’t as bad as we expected. Every tent also has an electric fly swatter.

I’m usually pretty critical and can usually think of something that could be improved, but not here. It’s just perfectly organized. And if there is something wrong, the atmosphere is such that you can just point it out and they’ll take care of it.

We would definitely come back here again.
