The Salland Ridge is one of the largest contiguous moorland areas in Europe. The hills were formed long ago, during the ice age. Nowadays you can hike, mountain bike, bike, and hike there as an adventurer or nature lover. There are numerous beautiful routes where you can be both active and clear your head. In the middle of the Sallandse woods, and less than fifteen minutes drive from the vacation park, is Avonturenpark Hellendoorn. The adventure park is a fun day out for young and old. There are more than 30 top attractions, including the wild water ride 'Wild Waterfall', the '3 Secret Towers' where you can climb and clamber, and the 'Flying Flame' roller coaster. You can also visit one of the many spectacular shows and there is an outside sliding track where you will have plenty of adventures. The park has several catering establishments where you can go for a small snack or dinner. Keep in mind that the park is closed during winter months.
Dining in the Gardens of Priona
This unique pop-up restaurant "The Garden Room" serves culinary dishes using products from the Gardens of Priona throughout the summer months. Depending on what is growing in the garden, the menu changes weekly and is always fresh. The restaurant itself is an old greenhouse which stands in the middle of the gardens. The Priona Gardens were created in 1970 with the goal that everything revolves around ecological balance. By now the Gardens of Priona are internationally known. The beautiful and very inspiring Gardens count more than 5000 different species of flowers and plants. You will find the Gardens of Priona and the Garden Room in Schuinesloot, about a half-hour drive from the vacation park.

We (a family with two children) had a wonderful stay in House No. 41. The contactless check-in and unlocking the front door via the app worked perfectly. The house was clean and generally in good condition. There were just a few spots where the paint on the drawers was chipped or the material at the headboard was scratched. But that didn’t bother … us at all.
The only minor criticism: There are only two hooks for towels in the bathroom. There is a drying rack, but once you’ve done laundry, it’s already taken. And with the sauna and pool, you just end up needing a lot of towels...
What we especially liked:
The kitchen is well-equipped: four pots, three pans, a grater, a colander, a refrigerator, and a large separate freezer, an oven with a built-in microwave,... There’s a six-piece set of dishes available.
The pool: A beautiful and well-maintained facility. Deep and large enough for swimming. At the shallow end, the water is very shallow—perfect for relaxing and sitting in the water. Inside, there’s a whirlpool function at the push of a button. And because the pool is heated, we were able to use it even in bad weather. That’s why we didn’t even need the bathtub with a whirlpool function inside the house.
The tranquility: The houses are cleverly arranged to ensure privacy. The complex is located away from major roads. In the evenings, we simply enjoyed the sound of the wind rustling through the trees.
The staff at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. 18 coffee capsules cost 10 euros.

Wir (Familie mit zwei Kindern) hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt in Haus Nr. 41. Der kontaktlose Check-In und das Öffnen der Haustür per App hat wunderbar geklappt. Das Haus war sauber und insgesamt gut in Schuss. Nur an ein paar Stellen war der Lack an den Schubladen ab oder das Material am Kopfende des Bettes verkratzt. Aber das hat uns nicht weiter gestört.
Der einzige kleine Kritikpunkt: Es gibt im Bad nur zwei Haken für Handtücher. Ein Wäscheständer ist zwar vorhanden, aber wenn man gewaschen hat, ist der halt schon belegt. Und durch Sauna und Pool braucht man eben eine Menge Handtücher...
Was uns besonders gefallen hat:
Die Küche ist toll ausgestattet: Vier Töpfe, drei Pfannen, Reibe, Nudelsieb, Kühlschrank und großer separater Gefrierschrank, Backofen mit integrierter Mikrowelle,... Geschirr ist jeweils in sechsfächer Ausführung vorhanden.
Der Pool: Schöne und gepflegte Anlage. Tief und groß genug, um zu schwimmen. Am flachen Ende ist das Wasser sehr seicht - zum Chillen und Sitzen im Wasser perfekt. Im Innenbereich gibt es eine Whirlpool-Funktion auf Knopfdruck. Und weil der Pool beheizt ist, konnten wir ihn auch bei schlechtem Wetter nutzen. Deshalb haben wir die Badewanne mit Whirlpool-Funktion im Haus gar nicht gebraucht.
Die Ruhe: Die Häuser sind geschickt aufgestellt, so dass man Privatsphäre hat. Die Anlage ist abseits großer Straßen gelegen. Abends haben wir einfach das Rauschen des Windes in den Bäumen genossen.
Das Personal an der Rezeption war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. 18 Kaffee-Kapseln haben 10 Euro gekostet.
Wir waren rundum zufrieden.
